Adolph Lpchwitz has brought suit against Dr. Clark and Pat Shea, in the sum of $5,000 each, for defamation of character. The defamatory remarks are alleged to have been uttered by the doctor immediately after the firo in July, and by Shea in December. Lcch-witz'- s action in bringing suit against Shea particulary, it looks to us, is a case of base ingratitude, it being a well known fact that had Shea not taken him in tho night of the fire, ho would not now be living to sue the hand that saved him from an ignominious death, and if he intends suing all those who expressed their belief that he did the act, he may as well begin suit against the town, for with proban bly a exceptions, that held and expressed by was opinion all who were here.
