Hubbard rr ,, U.UI. l 5JIWII " III , - f 4 4 t A - , f V. Mrs. J. C. Hubbard, candidate for State Representative, is prominent in civic affairs in Carbon County. She was the successful chairman of the Red Cross Roll Call in 1935. Interested in youth, she has served on the Girl Scout Council and has been sponsor of several young womens clubs in Price. She has been active in education and church groups. Mrs. Hubbard who was formerly Miss r Bliss Lewis, was born in Spanish Fork and received her early education there. She is a graduate of the U. of U. and has also attended the U. of Chicago, Pasadena School of Speech, and the U. of California at Berkeley. A member of the teaching profession for a number of years, she has had a varied experience in her profession and if elected promises to work for the establishment of a Junior College in Carbon County. Mrs. Hubbard is the wife of Dr. J. C. Hubbard, physician of this community. A vote for Mrs. Hubbard is a vote for a leader who can effectively represent her well-know- J. MRS. C. Hammond t V f V 5 A V Y r Aside from his professional career, he has been a leader in public affairs. He has served on the Town Board of Sunnyside, is a past president of the Helper , Chamber of Commerce, past commander of the American Legion, and is a member of the 40 & 8. At present he is vice president of the Carhon County HENRY H. JONES STATE A vote for Henry H. Jones is a vote for an efficient leader and a forceful speaker. SENATOR , Henry Ruggeri n F. B. Hammond, candidate for Judge of ftie Seventh Judicial District, has had an interesting and varied career. Born of pioneer parents, he gTew to manhood at Bluff, where his childhood and early education were typical of pioneer conditions, such as Indian skirmishes. He filled missions for the L. D. S church in North Carolina, Canada and Iowa. His wife is the former Harriet E. Barton, and they have a family of eight children. His education includes B. Y. U. high school at Provo, agricultural course at Ames, Iowa, ai.d law degree from the U. of Chicago. He has practiced law in the Seventh Judicial District for 20 years, and served as County Attorney for both San Juan and Grand Counties. Mr. Hammond recently moved to Price, where he has established offices. All over the District, his name is spoken with a high degree of respect due to his pioneer labors, his successful achievements as a stock-maand his fine personal character and loyalty to church and community. Sweetring S. i jrt Mr. Sweetring was born in Quinin 1900. He attended public schools there and received his college and legal education at the University of Chicago. B. SWEETRING Candidate for DISTRICT ATTORNEY Seventh Judicial District i For the past three years he has represented, as a member of the Board of Commissioners, the Sixth Division of the Utah State Bar. A vote for S. J. Sweetring is a vote for a very deserving and competent candidate. i After practicing law in Vernal for two years, he moved his office to Helper in 1931, where through his activities in his profession and interest in public affairs he has become well known in Carbon. He has acquired property in Helper and is making his permanent home there, and if elected, promises, I will at all times work for legislation that will promote and benefit industries of Carbon County. I will work for more equitable distribution of state revenues among the cities and counties of the state, and also for legislation that will improve working and living conditions of Carbon County workers. A vote for Thorit B atch is a vote for just and fair legislation. William B. Stapley of Castle Gate, candidate for two-yemissioner, is better known as Bish-- ; op Stapley. His name is not a new one to voters of Carbon County. He served as County Commissioner in 1930-3with credit to himself and taxpayers of Carbon County. 1, cy, Illinois He Thorit Hatch, candidate for State Representative, a successful lawyer of Helper, was born in Vernal. He attended the local schools there and later the University of Utah, where he graduated from the Law School in 1929. In the same year he was admitted to practice in the Utah and U. S. District Courts. ar D. Otapley candidate for District Attorney for the Seventh Judicial District, has never held public office before either by appointment or election, but, qualified by age and experience, he will be a fearless and vigorous XV V Henry Ruggeri, candidate for County Attorney, was born at Castle Gate in 1893. He has been a Carbon County resident all his life. After graduation from the local schools, he attended schools in Salt Lake City, and was graduated from the University of Utah in 1916 with a Bachelor of Law Degree. He was admitted to the bar the same year and has been practicing law in this county for twenty years. Mr. Ruggeri served his country in the World war for 22 months; 15 of which were served in France. While overseas, he was commissioned as a first lieutenant in the United States Army. Mr. Ruggeri has formerly served the taxpayers of this County as County Attorney. He has been City Attorney for both Helper and Price. He has been a tireless civic worker, and is a member and former president of Price Kiwanis club, and a member of the Elks club and the American Legion. Because of his experience, superior qualifications and the efficient service he has rendered, he was drafted by the County Convention as nominee for this office. A vote for Henry Ruggeri is a vote for efficient administration. S. J. Sweetring, ? n T. THORIT HATCH Candidate for STATE REPRESENTATIVE school board. Candidate for four-yea- V v Throughout the World war he served as an officer in the U. S. Marine Corps. Immediately after his discharge, he came to Carbon County. His wife is the former Jennie Migliore of Sunnyside. clear-heade- d well-know- Thorit Hatch nt n r Dean Tilton, candidate for commissioner, is a locomotive engineer, who has been employed for the past thirty years by the D. & R. G. W. railroad, the largest taxpayer in Carbon County. Most of this time has been spent on the mam line and branch lines of Carbon County, which has afforded him an excellent opportunity to become familiar with labor and industrial County problems. Born in Iowa, Mr. Tilton came to Provo, Utah, in 1895 where he attended school at Proctor Academy and the B. Y. U. He married Margaret Russell, a daughter of an old pioneer family of Scofield. Mr. Tilton acted as Town Trustee of Soldier Summit for three years. He is an active member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, serving as local chairman of that organization for five consecutive years. As resident of Helper, property owner and taxpayer, Mr. Tilton has the interest of Carbon County at heart. A vote for Dean Tilton i3 a vote for a businesslike Dean Tilton s Henry H. Jones Henry H. Jones, candidate for State Senator, is a graduate of the University of Illinois, and has been identified with the mining industry m Carbon County for the past fifteen years. He has served as res-deengineer for the Utah Fuel company the Spring Canyon Coal company and others. At present he is successfully developing one of the Countys new industries, production of rock asphalt. He is employed as Helper City engineer. JiL-- J DILWORTH WOOLLEY Candidate for JUDGE OF THE SEVENTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT Born in Iron County, Utah, of pioneer stock, his early life was spent on the farm. He attended Millard academy and B. Y. U. He served in the World war and was in the mission field for the L. D. S. church for two years. In 1920 he married Sophia Parker and now has a family of five children attending Carbon schools. For a number of years he served as trustee of the Town Board of Castle Gate, and a member of the Castle Gate Welfare Association. For the past 18 years, Mr. Stapley has been employed by the Ut ,h Fuel company, 12 of which have been in official capacity. Having started from the bottom in the coal mining industry and risen to his present position as foreman, he understands problems of the laboring man and is always willing to deal justly with them. A vote for Mr. Stapley is a vote for economical administration. Judge Dilworth Woolley candidate for Judge of the Seventh Judicial District, as a young man determined upon the study of law with the intention of entering upon a judicial career as the principal occupation of his life. He was bbrn at St. George, and educated in the public schools of the state, the B. Y. U. at Provo and the U. of Michigan at Ann Arbor, from which he was graduated in 1906. Shortly after graduation, Judge Woolley moved to Manti, where Jie resides at the present time. During his long service on the bench, Judge Woolley has taken pride in the fact that he has not permitted any other interest to interfere with the work of the courts. During his administration, work of the courts has been kept up to date. He has been called many times to sit on the Supreme Court of the state, and has written many opinions for that tribunal. By his work in the District Court and his service in ,the Supreme Court, Judge Woolley has demonstrated his training for the judicial office and that he is fearless, and just.
