Not only was it a time to listen to Presi'dent Hinckley and the other general authorities, but also it was a time "for families to gather together for dinner and special activities. Everyone was delighted to be able to go outside for fun and games and leisurely walks. It's wonderful to hear of the accomplishments of our youth as they leave home and move onto bigger endeavors. Sarah Inouye, daughter of Dwight and Jeannie Inouye was recently recognized as Outstanding Student Performer by the BYU School of Music, and had the honor of performing with the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra 'with Kory Katseanes conducting on March 26. The program was "broadcast locally on radio station Classical 89. Sarah is a student of Irene Perry-Fox. ' Congratulations to the cast and crew members of the GVHS theater production, "Charley's Aunt." The production took third place in region competition on March 30 at the high school. John Clark, 'son of Corrine Clark and Tommy Clark, won the Best Character Actor Award. Mark Lyons does a terrific job with his students in the theater department at the high school. Word has been received of the birth of a new daughter to Teresa and Chad Hanks of Loa on Thursday, March 30. Taylor Alexis, as she will be known, weighed in at 9 pounds 10.5 ounces. Big sister Kylee, 2, is so excited to have her new sister here. We congratulate the new royalty, queen Heather Naylor, and her attendants Julie Ann Sellers, and Brooke Heath. All of this year's contestants were beautiful'and did an outstanding job with their performances. .; Judging by the number of people from Gunnison who enjoyed .the ambiance and food of El Mexicano at Salina Wednesday evening, ;April 5, Gunnison needs to have its own Mexican restaurant. More . than 35 people, friends, family, and organization leaders ventured to . rthe eatery for an evening out on the town. ., Elizabeth Jenkins enjoyed celebrating her birthday with friends' .Blaine and Karen Prisbrey. When one birthday is acknowledged in the paper, it's fun to see how many other people respond by saying it was their birthdays, too. So to all others who are celebrating their birthdays we say Happy Birthday to you! The stake Relief Society presidency provided the Home Family 'and Personal Enrichment activity this month with an evening of relaxation'ori Thursday, April 6 at the stake center. 'Time Out" for iwpmen "to Learn, Laugh, Relax and Grow" was the theme of the program with'guest speakers Barbara Bown, Jodi Anderson, Vicki •Zabriskie, Melinda Torgersen, and Loreen Sorensen. A relaxing evening was enjoyed by all in attendance,-and the refreshments were scrumptious too. Darlene Agren is proud to announce that her son Spencer competed in the Gold Cup Piano Recital Saturday and Sunday, April 7-8 •at the Manti Tabernacle. Spencer, one of more than 80 students to participate in the festival, received a Superior rating and his first jGold Cup award. Congratulations Spencer, we're proud of you. Most of Darlene's grandchildren were with her for the special birthday. She had many calls from family and friends, mainly her sister and brothers. Darlenc is now an ordinance worker at the Manti Utah Temple. Best wishes, Darlene. Saturday, April 15, 2006 is going to be a very special day at the Centerfield church for the celebration of LeVoy Sorenson's IOOth birthday. LeVoy has lived in Centerfield most of his life, until recently when he moved to Pleasant Grove where he is living with his daughter Verna. Everyone is invited to an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. LeVoy has held many church positions in the Gunnison Stake, most recently as Stake Patriarch. Everyone has a great respect for this great man. All I can think of this week is birthdays. About 65 members the Alex and Christena Jensens family met at the Centerfield church for dinner and visiting to celebrate Eugene Jensen's 80th birthday. It seems like it was only a few short years ago that my brother used to take me on his bicycle from way out on the farm to Gunnison to the movies. Where did the years go? All of Eugene's children and most of their grandchildren wee there to pay their respects and honor their father and grandfather. Brandon Olsen, one of the grandsons, made a video of Nancy and Eugene's lives before and after marriage. Eugene's brothers and sisters were also present. The Centerfield Old Folks Party was held March 8, 2006. The theme was "Remember the fabulous fifties". The committee went to a lot of work and everyone had a great time. It started at 9 a.m. and was an all-day event until 9 p.m. The food was superb for both dinner and the night meal. The crowd appreciated all that was done just for them. Thanks to all who worked on the committee. The terrible wind of Thursday, April 6 was pretty strong. A large old tree by Keith Jensen's hay yard blew down and it went across the highway, causing a backup of cars for some time until it could be removed. nviftltrw parker failure launch^ Casino Star Theatre 78 S.
