comini committee tiec returned front from salt lake city tuesday last where rebe he had spent the christmas season mr redd reports that he attended a conference on the allotment of road monies under the colton oddie road law held by the state road commission saturday last at which congressman grasman colton and do governor vernor dem bern were present presen t and that the result of the conference on ference so far as san juan bouny is concerned was favorable to getting a considerable increase increase in in road work here this spring it i was vas decided by the commission that colton oddie road abad monies would be used on the peters hill project thus releasing which the county was to contribute to that project and which will be available to match with state monies on other road projects chairman blood of the commission stated that a new agreement would be entered fato ahto with the county in so far as the peters hill project is concerned and that if the county chanty is so disposed the state will match that amount of money with the county for the further improvement pro of devil canyon between conicello Moni cello and blanding this of course will be predicated on t the lie oun tys willin willingness kness to do so mr air redd also alo had a conference with congressman colton on rad matfess matt mat fers ers 11 ha c abill has already eady been drawn up ready to be introduced in congress setting aside the strip of I 1 land and between the san juan river and the arizona state line as a part of the navajo indian reservation in accordance I 1 with the agreement between the indian department and the cattlemen held here last fall under this agree I 1 ment the indian department will use its good offices to induce the indians who already have paten patented ted allotments outside of the reservation to relinquish them and move onto the reservation it is understood that the indian department is favorable to either buying the town of bluff and establishing an indian agency there or building an indian school on the site in this connection it is understood that the people of blanding are aie at a t variance with the plan in some respects and that a meeting will be held there saturday next to iron put out any differences differ enles which may be interfering with the consummation of the entire plan if the plan as outlined works out the utes who now inhabit allen alien and montezuma canyons will bo be moved onto the new addition to the lea reservation erva mr redd stated that he brought up the matter of the axt ision ot of he state road south into anani Anc ni but that no definite understanding as to what would be done to secure it was at ile he stated however that chairman blood of the road commission con mission was not antagonistic to it as had been previously irti maled gestating he stating that for the present all of the states mileage under the federal AM aid plan plait was taken up so that the matter would have to lie 1 ic in abeyance until other federal ai aid d road projects have been completed following is the report of the decision of the conference in regard to allo allotting ting the entire portion of if portion of the colton oddie road monies as reported by the deseret news projects in uintah emery san juan and kane counties will be built out of portion of the colton oddie bill appropriation pria tion it was decided at a conference of governor george 11 II dern berri state highway chairman henry ii blood and cengr congressman don B colton coauthor co author of the measure the four projects forming the initial improvement und under er the bill were selected by the highway commission and have boon been approved by B D J firch finch of P tho the bareno of VON public roads the Colto nOddie bill provides funds for the building of highways at loo per cent government expense over the public domain or through townships where over halt half the area of the township is in public domain the four projects to be built under apportionment of the original appropriation under the act are aie as follows 1 jensen bridge on green river to cocklebur junction in uinta county on U S 40 this will cost
