Show Wednesday, April 3, 1974 Page 3 sRCUunon LETTERS TO THE EDITOR UOCATED NOW AT RESORT CENTER EDITORIAL The Vietnam War is now a sad part of Americas past but it has left an open wound that still festers the of question amnesty. Just as many American families are grieving due to a loved ones involvement in the war, so to are many families suffering because a son "or husband chose to avoid participation in the conflict. Whether the choice was prison, exile, or desertion, the fate of these men is now he subject o f much debate. If results of surveys are to be believed, it is the policy makers, not those who fought, who are turning a deaf ear to pleas for amnesty. Polls taken indicate that the majority of Vietnam veterans favor a complete pardon for men whose presence in jail or in exile is predicated or a moral objection to the war. The argument most often raised against compassion is that amnesty would be a disservice to those who did fight, many of whom gave their lives. This is the same logic which equated a U.S. pullout from the war to dishonoring the war dead. Sacrifice more lives to honor the dead? This does not seem rational. What family could possibly be consoled for the loss of someone dear by the knowledge that there are young men still paying a great price for an unpopular war. It seems inconceivable that a country which bestowed immediate forgiveness and billions of dollars in economic aid to two nations with which it waged bitter war could reject amnesty for its own citizens. History will show the Vietnam War to be a tragic mistake. Will it also show that the American people failed to have mercy on some who recognized this tragedy at the outset? ITS Springtime is here! We have seen people streak in various stages of undress, from sneakers to ski masks, but very rarely do we see someone go at it completely Au natural without anything on whatsoever. We think the ultimate streak one that exemplifies should begin sportsmanship, dignity, and good taste by shedding everything, including socks and shoes. There is nothing worse than a partially clad streaker. Also there should be a time limit on the actual streak. Just running around naked all davs does not constitute a legitimate streak. We believe a bonafide streak should be limited to five minutes, and that the streaker should be in full movement at all times. Slips and falls do not count. A thirty second romp before a crowd of 5,000 people should be scored much heavier than a five n minute cavort under the watchful eyes of a oc-curen- ce, point-to-poi- nt Park City, Utah 84060 PHONE 649-818- 1 Condominiums: Three Kings... Multiple streaking should also be graded low for obvious reasons. If we allowed multiple streaking to take place rampantly, we would ultimately find streakers outnumbering watchers! In addition, the streakee has as much to do with the success of a streak as the steaker. Crowd response should involve positive or negative reinforcement. A streaker who does not measure up to the standards set forth above should be soundly booed. A streaker who follows the rules and chooses a route for crowd appeal should be cheered accordingly. This will ultimately upgrade the quality of streaking. So much for the rules. What will the ultimate streak be and where? Maybe the Super Bowl or the soccer finals in England. The ultimate of streaking will eventually come and then we can search for something else to lighten this worlds heavy load. there than st ex- posure via ABCs Wide World of Sports?
