SMUCF APRIL 10, 100 1. Sunday Wages of Southern Pacific Freight Office Employes Are Cut Down. were pouted Bulletin yesterday morning in the railroad ufficca an1 nounclng that W II. Chcvcrs ia the Joint freight agent ai Ogden, the change going Into effect at 7 a. W. yesterday. The bulletin also stales that G. II. Corse, formerly agent of the Union Pacific and Oregon Short Line, is assign ed to other duties, but It is not yet announced what Mr. Corse's title or duties will be. The change in the freight offices does not reduce the force, but by two or three men, which is much better than was at first feared would be the result of the consolidation. The most material change, however, is in the reduction of salaries of the men in the Southern Pacific office. While two or three have been given a raise, a large majority of the Southern Pacific employes have received a rut of from 95 to 825 a month, which, with a rough estimate, will ! make a difference of about 400 a month' in the pay roll of the office. Whether or not this plan of reduction to Union Pacific schedules will extend to the yard office and the master mechanic s offleq Is not known. ;. The trainmen, however, feel confl dent that no change will be made In their pay, as according to their con' tract the company is compelled to give them 60 days' notice before any change can be made.
