For the average Utah customer, the credit on the January bill will be about $2.28 and the increase will amount to 33 cents per month. Individual customers may be affected more or less than that, depending on Service Commission last week. If approved, the first would mean a credit of $1.6 million on customers' bills during January, due to final settlements of producer and pipeline cases Mountain Fuel has been active in. The second seeks to offset still another round of federal m actual gas usage. B.Z. Kastler, Mountain Fuel president, explained that the credit was due to refunds Mountain fuel will receive from its major pipeline suppliers as a result of final settlement of rate cases those suppliers have had before the Federal Power Commission. Some of the cases have been before .the FPC for several months. During that time the pipelines have been charging Mountain Fuel higher rates than were approved in the final decisions. The increase is due to price increases authorized by the Federal Power Commission to U.S. and Canadian producers and pipelines. Kastler reiterated his concern with the recent number of federally mandated price increased and expressed the hope that the government would soon change its position and seek to bring price stability back to the natural gas business. He noted that the current increase, like many in the past, goes entirely to the companys gas suppliers and none of the increase will remain with the company. '!&k rm V:;i- - ' , V f) . ' it V ?
