artistswriterspresenters Festival Story nmm The President Millard Fillmore Library Gwen Fillmore Hunter 25 South Librarian Utah 100 West Story Festival For the last two years the Fillmore Middle School has furnished original stories written and illustrated for their creative writing project in their English class The program was begun last year using Mr Kirby Giles’ class for the entire time This year Mrs Carolyn Stevens’ class also shared their work with the audience School The Fillmore Elementary brought all students and the students to the Fillmore Library during Monday and Tuesday morning and April 11 and 12 Monday afternoon The bus shuttled the students to and from the grade school to the library One or two teachers accompanied each group In addition to the Library Board and the Librarian Mrs Oleve Robison and Mrs Nonnie Stephenson assisted in the the group through trafficing reading stations throughout the library This was a great event for each of the the groups attending the writerartists elementary students the library board The work of the and the librarians is for on display two young people weeks and may be read in the library but not checked out Many of the smaller children have brought family members in to read their favorites again with them The young authors are: Karen MitDana chell Toulavanh Phongvichit Robison Patti Brunson James Dean ii'jk A at Fillmore Library Jonathan Allen Andy Anderson Melissa Jackson Sheri Quarnberg and Justin Spencer from Mrs Stevens class Mr Giles class was represented by: Olivia Janet Watson Packham Heather Burgess Nancy Christensen Jed Memmott Neil Shumway Jeorgia Peterson Monica Reid Brandi Jensen and Marcie Starley on Monday afternoon were: Ryan Tuesdays presenters Thomas Raymond Wright Willard Whitaker Davies Justin Anderson Andy Teeples Bryan Bergerner Heather Stevens Shyanne Deli Aleman Edwards Eve Hatton Jed Memmott and Neil Shumway from both classes Mrs Kaye Starley also did creative writing in her 6th grade and has brought several stories in for the display None of the children have had a chance to hear these stories The librarians would be glad to have the children come in and read these while they are on display New Books The most controversial of the new enbooks is the one on Nostradamus titled “The Further Prophecies of 1985 Nostradamus and Beyond” translated edited and introduced by Erika Cheetham This prophet lived during the 5th century and is believed to have made some astounding prophecies which have come to pass This is not the first book of his prophecies published but is our only one We have previously been borrowing his works from interlibrary loan There will likely be a waiting list for this book so put your name down if you are interested The book is only 145 take place on Saturday April 23 at 8 am WalkAmerica is a chance for a fun day in the sun with your family and friends This year’s walk will begin at the Court House in Fillmore Interested persons volunteers take part in this citing way to help the March of Dimes Fight birth defects “We hope to have about 100 walks this year” said Monson “We are confident the citizens of Millard will help us meet this goal” Mothers and babies all over the nation will benefit from WalkAmerica because money raised from this event goes to fund March of Dimes research and medical and educational programs that Harmon is the son of Stanley and Joy Holden of Pink Day The Fillmore Community Medical Center Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) will hold their annual “Pink Day” on June 4 We are asking that you set aside any “White Elephants” that you might find during your spring cleaning and donate them to the hospital auxiliary We will use them for our rummage sale We usually raise about $60000 on the rummage sale alone and average $300000 total sales during Pink Day The money we raise is used to purchase new equipment for the hospital Although the auxiliary gives the equipment to the hospital the main reason for the purchases is to help provide the best medical care and comfort for our community When the auxiliary donates to the hospital it is with you in mind and the equipment is purchased with your When we attend generous donations the Utah Association of Hospital Auxiliaries conventions and tell about our fundraising efforts people are amazed that we are able to do so well with such Thanks to all a Holden Utah has been elected to membership in the American Angus Association reports Dick Spader executive of the national organization in St Joseph Missouri The American Angus Association with over 30000 active adult and junior is the largest members beef cattle registry association in the world Its computerized records include detailed on nearly 11 million information registered Angus The Association records ancestral formation and keeps records of production on individual animals for its members These permanent records help members select and mate the best animals in their herds to produce high quality efficient breeding cattle which are then recorded with the American Most of these Angus Association registered Angus are used by the US farmers and ranchers who raise high beef for US consumption quality East Millard soil survey underway The East Millard soil survey is now underway This survey will take in all of the cropland and some of the rangelands from Scipio on the north to Kanosh on the south All total there is about 200000 acres to be mapped This survey will identify slope texture depth structure drainage and vegetation It is hoped that the survey can be
