take place on May 15 1987 at 7 pm Registration or preregistration check in starts at 6:15 Starting point is a quarter mile east of pioneer potato sign in McComick Ending point is the Kanosh church Participants must be between the ages of years and 99 years Registration fee includes cap for all participants and trophy for each individual who completes the hike within 20 hours of starting time The registration fee is $500 if preregistered by May 10 or $600 if registered at starting point Parents must sign registration form on all participants under age 18 Drinking water provided at check parents Fred and and children Paula Christensen LeeAnn attends BYU She will be going back to attend the spring session at the end of her spring break Mrs Kent Swallow and children traveled to Las Vegas April 17 to enjoy a day of visiting with Kent’s sister LaDawn and B N and Williams and children The cousins had a great time comparing school activities and just plain fun Mrs Erma Dean drove down from her home in Salt Lake City bringing Mrs Helen Fuller with her These ladies arrived April 17 to enjoy a wonderful visit with their children The Anthony Fullers Anthony is Helen’s son and his wife Diana is Erma’s daughter Fortunate grandchildren to have two dear grandmothers come to hear of their accomplishments at school and church The ladies returned to their Salt Lake City homes April 20 Bradley Allen has finished his job in the Denver area and is now home with his parents Dean and Shirley Allen and daughter Acel and Their Vicki Butcher and four daughters of West Valley City were and Rachael Marshall and their family They packed a lunch and went to the Sand Dunes where the kids had a great time playing in the sand and they all had an afternoon of fun riding their and getting a sunburn The next day they went to Veo Utah a town near Enterprise where they all enjoyed their first swim of the year and their first 95° in the sun Friday morning they enjoyed a ride into town where the Palomar Scouts from all over this area will be demonstrating scout knowledge skills specialties and abilities The Boy Scout Units in past years have demonstrated such things as First Aid Dutch Oven Cooking Rope Making Building Fires without matches Silk Screen Printing Photography Wood Craft Pioneering and other interesting things The Cub Scouts have always been the backbone of the show They will be there demonstrating things Cub Scouts are learning in their Den and Pack meetings They will have booths showing such things as making kites puppet making collections crafts wood working making useful things form scraps etc An interesting feature of this years will be the Match Box Egg Drop Scouts buy a kit and design a craft that can successfully transport an egg from a height of fifty feet to the ground without breaking the egg The egg must not be cooked and the shell can’t be reinforced by any coating The kit for building the container or craft in which the egg is placed must be made from the following materials 250 wooden match sticks small bottle of Elmers Wood Glue 5 Kleenex tissues three feet of heavy string and one uncooked egg This activity should prove interesting and encourage scouts to be creative and innovative in their thinking Only boys eleven years or older may take part and only one drop is allowed per unit Bill Keel is in charge of this and Kent has a very wooded beautiful large back yard area many kinds of trees and wildflowers They traveled to Eden Park to see the Easter flower show which was very interesting with flowers and plants from all over the world Mrs Miller enjoyed a very fine time with her family On Saturday Mrs Florence Lowder spent the day at the home of a in Springville Mrs Amasa Lowder The weather became so bad she had to stay longer before returning home Monday Lathel and Marge Callister spent Sunday at the home of Linden and Susan Callister and children Gary and Todd in Delta They all enjoyed a very
