talkAccording to ing with the patients Sharron there is a great need for more help and she extends an invitation to any and all interested and caring dividuals A main objective is to get the seniors from Delta Sands to help The Delta auxiliary also has a gift shop located in the hospital There are changes being made now but the women know what they want to do They hope to have items on consignment along with handmade gifts They are attempting to get new volunteers to do just sewing with materials bought At this time they by the organization have blankets quilts dresses blessing dresses sleepers toys for pediatrics fant carriers cards diaper bags and flower arrangements for sale Fund raisers are also held in Delta Last fall the women had a pizza sale from which they cleared $900 They will be sponsoring a golf tournament Labor Day weekend With their money they have decorated OB and birthing rooms and they have bought comforters and cribs for the nursery They for all new also make coursages mothers and will present pins to new fathers The auxiliaries or Pink Ladies are dedicated women who are working quietly and efficiently behind the scenes They are saying “We care about you” About the patients in the Extended Care Units the ladies believe “These people have been key and vital who citizens in our communities-on- es have provided great services They were around for all of us Now it is our turn to be there for them” These busy and concerned women invited you to join them They need your help and they want you to experience the joys and satisfactions that mean promote a nonprofit business by Dawn Carder “Volunteers Make the Difference” was the theme of the Utah Association of Hospital Auxiliaries at the 9th Annual Spring Convention of the Utah Hospital Association And volunteers DO make a difference right here in Millard County in both Delta and Fillmore Community Medical Centers Although the local volunteers are officially called auxiliary members they are commonly called “The Pink Ladies” Attired in pink coats they provide a number of services for the donate hospitals They unselfishly many hours talents and money in order to ease the loads for hospital personnel and to brighten the day for patients different towns two separate hospitals two auxiliary organizationsone goal The goal is to serve The women all very busy and very concerned find time in their lives to reach out to their friends and in their home towns neighbors right Collectively they agree that volunteerism for which there is always a need is very important In both towns the “Pink Ladies” sighted various reasons for involvement in the volunteer work For some it was filling a void after the loss of a mate For others it was a way in which to meet new people All agreed that they saw a need to help others and felt a heed to be needed The ladies invite any interested person to join them for they want to help others to feel needed and they need new members in their ranks Fillmore Community Center Auxiliary was organized inn 1976 Today it has forty members thirty of whom are active and it is under the leaderNew ship of Ulala Mace President members are solicited by word of and newspaper mouth telephoning advertising Mrs Mace is enthusiastic about what she and her group are doing Five days a week between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Fillmore Pink Ladies take two hour shifts and perform a number of services A typical day consists of helping with morning checking trays emergency room linens visiting pa tients in the Extended Care unit and taking them to activity sessions watering plants doing office work and helping distribute dinner trays Another for the responsibility Fillmore ladies is maintaining and running a very successful gift shop at the crocheted hospital They sell quilts items hot pads and other novelties that they make themselves and donate Some gifts are in the shop on consignment When sold the Pink Ladies receive a 20 percent commission Other items for sale are made and donated by people in the community The big fund raiser in Fillmore is the annual Pink Day which will be May 16 this year It will be held at the park from 11 am to 3 pm There will be booths food fish bowls kiddie games performances by dance classes and the sale of chances for a handmade tricot quilt This event usually brings in four to five thousand dollars for the women Smaller fund raisers during the year are rummage and bake sales All money is just recycled in their It goes toward purchasing program materials for patient gifts machinery and decorating for the hospital hospital rooms For the first time this year the Fillmore Pink Ladies will be a $500 scholarship to awarding someone planning to go into nursing The recipient must agree to return to the Fillmore Hospital for one year following the completion of his or her studies The Delta Community Center Auxiliary is newer and a littler smaller than Fillmore’s Organized in 1984 Choral Clark is the current president and there are sixteen members in the group “And” says Choral “sixteen are not enough We need more volunteers” Grayce Pace Director of Volunteers tries to have some one on duty each day The women work three to four hours some dividing their time between the community medical center and the Extended Care facility At the hospital the Delta Pink Ladies as in Fillmore provide a variety of services They help with scheduling especially when the special doctors come in for the day help deliver lunch Cinderella connection 4-- H All mothers and daughters in Millard County are invited to attend the Cinderella Connection to be held April 30 at 6 pm at the Senior Citizens Center in Fillmore There will be special classes on hair and coordinating care purchasing clothing and accessories Miss Millard The County will be in attendance special guest speaker will be Lori Tuttle There will be a special musical number The lunch will be $150 each Car pools will be arranged for
