F. Kirkham. and O. P. Hunter report a very novel and interesting walk last Thursday. The three men started from Pelican Point and waked directly from the point across the lake to the site of the old Murdock resort south of Lehi. They found the lake bed crusted and cracked Into large cakes. As they neared this side of the lake they found In the a little water from springs. cracks of clay they found water of varying depths. In many places the water was found to be very deep in the cracks and walking on the cakes of clay resmbled walking ice cakes as the cracks were wide and deep and had to be very careful to their footing or find themselves sinking in the mud and water In the cracks. They found that there was a fall of perhaps 13 inches to three miles showing the lake bed practically level. Water in the crevices was from 5 to 18 inches from the top of the clay. On the lake bed thousands of tamarack trees are growing. On the south side of the lake these trees were in groves, some of them shoulder high Mr. and on down to tiny shoots. Kirkham suggests that anyone wishing a tamarack tree can get their choice for a ride to Pelican Point. LIONS ENJOY PARTY 10t .
