After returning to Lehi, he engaged la the sheep business for a number of years. Then he worked for Hamotcr Bros, la their livery stable. He made a host of friends while-there- . Everyone admired his cheerfulness and kindness. He always took a loving interest in everybody's trouHis hearty greeting ble and joy. cheered countless weary souls and made them happy. No amount of work was to much trouble for him, if it helped someone. Many times he harnessed a team, in the middle of the night, to take stranded strangers to the train or towns in the valley and be jolly about it. After the livery stable was discontinued, he went to work for John Mc. Kinney, at his ranch in Cedar Valley. He supervised the sheep continually. His helpers loved him dearly. Most of the responsibility of caring for the herd fell to him after the death of Mr. McKinney. He worked faithfully for the success of Mrs. McKinney. Do ing everything In his power to lighten her heavy burden of worry. Most of his life was spent in the heart of the mountains. He welded their cheer and steadfastness Into his every-da- y life. Finally he became tired of the roving life of the herder. He decided to stay at home and enjoy his home and family. He loved to work In his garden and Improve his surroundings. His Joy was to anticipate his loving wife's desires and surprise her with their fulfillment. He took charge of his home' affairs after her illness. It made him happy to do everything possible to make her life easy and delightful. He Is survived by his wife and one brother, George Whitman, who has the following family: Norma Mrs. Georgia Peterson, Mrs. Wllma Sorenson, Mrs. Phyllis Lott, Jay and Lucile Whitman, one sister-in-laMrs. Lucy Whitman, three brotherj n laws, Chris Andrson of Lehi, Carl Anderson of American Fork; Evevold Anderson of Sprlngville. He has been a prominent and well respected citizen of Lehl for many years. Hosts of lov-i- g friends and his dear ones will miss his cheerful smile and merry shout, his love, helpfulness and sturdy honesty. His Life's Ambition: To be a friend both staunch and true. Biographical Skatch Charles Joshua Whitman passed away at the family residence at noon September 5th, at the age of 66 years and four months. He was born May 6 1868, in Bedfordshire, England; the son of George and Anne Turner Whit-m- a. His parents Immigrated t Utah when he was six weeks old. They crossed the ocean In a steamer and the plains In a Prairie Schooner, drawn by ox team. His family settled In Lehl, where he has since resided. In the He received his education Ross and Thurman schools. He married Christie Anderson, January 30, 1895, In Lehl, Utah.
