Show Last Rites Held In Cedar for Mrs. lane Hunter Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon in the Third ward chapel for Mrs. Jane Williams Hunter. 82. who died Sunday night of a heart attack which she suffered during the day. Mrs. Hunter was born at Cam-bath, Cam-bath, Wales, on July 19, 1867, a daughter of Evan and Mary Davis Williams, and came to the United States with her parents par-ents when she was nine years of age. The family came direct to Cedar City and helped in pioneering the southern Utah a-ea, Mrs. Hunter spending the remainder of her life here. She was married to George W. M. Hunter in the St. George LDS temple on January 19, 1887. Mr. Hunter died in July of 1947. Gardening and particularly the raising of flowers had been her hobby and in her earlier life her flower garden was a center of attraction in Cedar City. Surviving are two sons and four daughters, George M. and Lemont Hunter, Mrs. M. J. Urie, Mrs. John Beal, all of Cedar City; Mrs. J. E. Bennett, Lakeview, Oregon, and Mrs. R. E. Merry-weather, Merry-weather, Oxnard. California. Also Al-so surviving are 21 grandchild-ifn, grandchild-ifn, and five great-grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted con-ducted by Bishop A. E. What-cott What-cott of the Cedar third ward. Preliminary organ music was provided by Mrs. Reed Roberts, and the musical program included includ-ed a selection by a string ensemble en-semble composed of Roy L. Hal-voi Hal-voi sen, Miss Ruth Corry, Miss Marian Bradshaw, Mrs. Mary M. McDonald, and Floyd Munson, accompanied by Mrs. Virginia Larson; a vocal solo, "There is a God Who Watches Over All", by Ray Cosslett, and a vocal duet, "Whispering Hope", by Myles Walker and Ray Cosslett. Accompanist for the vocal numbers num-bers was Mrs. Beth Leigh. Speakers at the services were Bishop Whatcott, William R. Pal-mer Pal-mer and Samuel F. Leigh. Invocation Invo-cation was by C. William Mac-farlane, Mac-farlane, benediction by Dr. John i Beal, and the dedicatory prayer by Samuel B. Jones. |
