GARFIELD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL CONSTRUCTION MAKING PROGRESS The remodel and renovation project at Garfield Memorial Hospital, which began last fall, is well underway, making significant improvements and visible changes at the hospital. Included is a brief summary iQfthp.c,flanges^ The original physical Iherapy^eayljuman, r-e^QurcesTbusJness>yme^ical records, and administrative offices as well as the facility's main entrance have all been demolished. In order to maintain patient privacy and to minimize construction impacts, the areas have been sealed off from the rest of the hospital during construction. Those seeking medical records should now inquire in the hospital's longterm care wing. Admitting has also been moved to the east nursing station, located next to the double doors leading to the long-term care wing. The construction area has been fenced off and footings and foundation work have been completed. Rough plumbing and electrical work is currently being done and interior work has begun with fire proofing of the ceiling area and framing of the new ER. In the coming weeks, residents can expect to see structural steel delivered and erected. Many residents have noticed the limited parking space in the west lot due to the construction. This lot will remain open until the spring when it will be closed in order to begin construction of the new parking lot. To accommodate patients in need of parking, the east parking lot behind the clinic is open for patient only parking. The addition and remodel are projected to be complete by the middle of August this year. We apologize for any inconvenience our patients and their families might experience during this time. The Cowboys opened the contest with a flurry of eight 3 pointers, and led 40 to 35 at the break. Still trailing by 2 at the opening of the 4th quarter, the Cats went on a 19 to 14 run. With 13 seconds on the clock Kanab fired up a three pointer that missed, got the rebound and fired up another that also missed as the horn sounded. The Bobcat's scoring was well balanced with 3 players in double figures. Josh Bateman led with 17, Brady Barney had 15 with three 3 pointers, Trac Norris had 9, Tyler Pollock had 6, and Freshman Eric Frandsen, off the bench, dropped in a pair of critical 4th quarter baskets. , •.After Thursday's tjattered, and. bruised contest with Kanab, the Cats had only one day" to rest and recuperate before traveling south to the Buffalo's home corral at Valley. But evidently one day was enough as the Cats stampeded the Buffalos to the tune of 71 to 41. Coach Barney played the entire crew and got positive results from all. Kaz Pollock entered the game in the first half (when it was still a game), and racked up 6 points. Brady Barney led all scorers with 17, Josh Bateman had 14, Cameron Leach had 11 points and 12 rebounds, lyier Pollock had 8, and Super Soph, Trac Norris chimed in with 13. The Cats improve their Region record to 2 and 1 and 7 and 3 overall. Panguitch hosts Milford on January 10 and Wayne January 12. LADY BOBCATS TAME TIGERS AND BADGERS With the dark cloud of four fouls hanging over her, Hailey Orton still had the talent and fortitude to pour in 24 game high points in leading the Lady Bobcats to a 57 to 43 win over a stubborn Milford Tiger team. Krystal Taylor racked up 8 points before fouling out and Lacy Rosser contributed 8 crucial points. All in all the Cat's scoring was more balanced then usual, with Kelsey Christiansen'5, Beth Walter and Chelsey Barney's 4 each and Kelsie Barton with 3. Friday's game with the Watne Lady Badgers could be viewed as almost two separate games. Half number one was mostly offense, with a 27 to 14 Bobcat lead at the break. The second half was a direct turn aound as defense was the name of the game and the Lady Cats stingy defense and ball control held the Badgers to just 3 second half points. Hailey Orton, who was forced to" battle through a double team throughout the contest, still managed a 10 point out put in the 36 to 20 win. Krystal Taylor who scored the first 8 points for the Cats, had a game high 18 point total, and was outstanding with key steals and great floor leadership. Kelsie Barton led in the rebound department with 8 and Lacy Rosser popped in two key buckets. Panguitch is npw 3 and 3 in Region play and 8 and 6 overall. They travel to Bryce Valley January 11, and host Escalante January 13. |
