Show The Farmers Institute. nihings to the surroundings. Tula Is the sanu of the year when farmers' last it ite work unould lie put under way. at the eveuines are growing longer, the farmer' work is ptt uy well out of the way, and experience has shown that farmers take more interest in loftitaa. work tliao at any other time at the year. There was a time when the belief wax entertained by many farmers that the only way to learn how to till the noil properly, select the proper kiuds of crops, and to select and cure for live etock, was to dig out the knowledge for iheiaselrs. Now, however, farnwrs geaerally are cognizant of the fact that there are certain underlying principles which govern these things, and which can be obtained from the class room, fr itu the Agricultural paper, and from the fanners' Inntiinte. Tnrough the dcmouatrition work that baa been done, otir fanneaa have learned that there is a very intimate relation between successful farming and science. In the matter of dry farmiDg, scientific cultivation of the soil has demonstrated bey oud doubt that where scientific methods aw followed, arid farmiug may be made successful!. In the matter of domestic animals there ar e feeding hundreds of farmers who have adopted scientific methods of feeding animals, fend find it extremely profitable. For those reasons there has been a gradual awakening along the lines of Farmers work, and there are few farmers now adays who look upon the Institute lecturer as beiug unpractical. Farmers' Institute work has already begun in some of the couuties of the state, and the reception accorded the lectures is ample proof of the fact that this kind of work is appreciated, and that it is beginning to bear fruit. are Plau- oow belnir mailt- and iu the main will conform to the great stone castles of Europe in design; study of which h now being made for that purpose.
