The week-end games at Paris and Montpelier showed the Indians functioning smoothly and penorm-ing penorm-ing in excellent style. They have shown' rapid development witum the last few weeks. In the preliminary game at 7 p.m. the Preston second team will tangle tan-gle with the Clifton high school team in what should be a toss up tussle. Coach Joe Johnsen's Indians were very successful in their weekend week-end invasion of the Paris and Montpelier Mont-pelier basketball courts Friday and Saturday. The Montpelier game Saturday was a neck-and-neck contest up to the final gun, when an extra period was called. During this period the Indians piled up six points to the. Bears two and won a 44-40 victory. The Paris game was not quite so close, the Preston five leading from the first. At the half the score-stood1 score-stood1 23-10 and at the end 51-21. The Spartans experienced difficulty difficul-ty in penetrating the Indian defense, de-fense, and the Indians scored at will most of the time. Two Indians who of late have had difficulty in connecting with the basket set their sights right and went on a scoring spree. Blaine Lemmon piled up 15 points in Montpelier and 12 in Paris, while Ira Taylor made 11 at Paris and 13 at Montpelier. n A |
