Aaron'Johnson, writing from Raymond Alberta says: "I have traveled ten or fifteen miles in different directions from this place and find the land, of a uniform uni-form quality, very productive, as the heavy wheat and oat stubble stub-ble indicates. The farmers bins are full of the whitest, plumpest plump-est wheat, oats and barley imaginable. imag-inable. Apple trees, not yet old enough to bear, look thrifty, while small fruits do exceeding, ly well and along the streams wild gooseberries, currants and servisberries grow in great quantities. quan-tities. The land is beautifully undulating, covered entirely with bunch grasses of the richest rich-est and sweetest varieties. The St, Manv's river, nine milps.dis. tant, is as large our Utah County streams combined, and other streams with small lakes are plentifully distributed in the vacinity. At many points wild hay can be cut and a good yield secured. Where ever water has been turned on the land it has greatly increased the yield of hay. Maud Muller could easily rake her hay here, but the Judge could hardly find a shade under which to rein his horse. There is plenty of good land yet to be taken from three to six miles from Raymond, six to ten doll ars per acre and there are several sever-al pleasantly situated lots yet to be sold at twenty-five dollars each.; A lumber yard is situa ted neW where all kinds of buil- ding material can be purchased lie Cleanest Store in tie lest! Raymond is growing rapidly; rap-idly; it is estimated that a dwelling dwel-ling is erected every twenty-four hcurs. The railroad passses through here on its way to Cards-ton Cards-ton and the mines. Coal is plentiful, plen-tiful, from two to two-fifty per ton, nine miles distant. The pine and quakingasp are not nearer than seventy-five miles in the mountains. The brilliant brill-iant moonlight; Northen lights and our unequaled sun dogs compensata us somewhat : for the loss of electric lights. The last three years the winters have been very mild; they tell me that the coldest weather of the last three years has been since our arrival, if this is a fact then I have known colder weather in Utah County.
