Show TO BON TH COUNTY SLEEPiNG OF THE counnssiOiVERS AND SELECTMEN SESTEBUAY It Was Unanimously Decided to Issue Is-sue the Notices na Requested By the Count Court The Utah Commission met In the territorial ter-ritorial library in the Dooly block yes I terflay afternoon to take action in regard I re-gard to the election for county bonds recently ordered by the county court Messrs Roberts Geddes and ChrIs topherson the county selectmen and County Attorney Whittemore were present Chairman Letcher and Commissioners Tatlock and Sherman 3 majority of the commission were present Attorney Whittemore in answer to Questions made a number of statements state-ments the gist of which is as cHows olows The county court on the 25th inst ordered or-dered a special election to De neld on the 18th of March when will be submitted sub-mitted to the voters the proposition to bond the county for 375000 to lift the lIt floating indebtedness and for other purposes as specified They had provided pro-vided for the issuance of the notice of 10tce this election which will be held in the same manner as for county officers by the Utah Commission and were there to ask the board to issue that notice During the discussion which followed these additional points were brought out outThe The law requires that notices must be posted for fifteen days prior to the election and the proper way to do would be for the board to direct the county clerk to Issue those notices I will be the duty of the county court to act as the returning board as the commission are required to name another an-other board Of course at the proper time the commission will name the three judges of election for each precinct pre-cinct Mr Letcher stated that the I commission had the ballot boxes which could be emptied and the ballots burned by the county clerk but that I I was doubtful whether they had the money necessary as their funds were getting pretty low At least 250 to i400 would be required to pay the judges their 3 per day and the SOc per hour overtime and the printing would be something like 50 The question n to who would be entitled en-titled to vote was raised and Attorney Attor-ney Whittemore said the Jaw reads resident taxpayers A little Incident o the side happened here Mr Tat lock asked if that meant to include women but the county attorney sailed right on Wit his discourse just as i no such thing as womens rights existed I It was moved by Commissioner Tat i l lock and unanimously adopted that I the notices be issued as per the request of the county court and that the county clerk be designated as the person per-son to issue them Chairman Letcher announced that the commission would be in session on the Friday following when more defi nite steps would be taken and the details de-tails of the matter settled The board then adjourned d |
