The Utes sneaked past Illinois in the first game of the tournament, 52-4- on national 9, ' television. Williams and freshman guard Manuel Hen- -' drix each scored 14 points to lead the Utes. Utah, again on national TV, then shocked collegiate power1, house UCLA, to ad vahce to the Western Regionals 67-6- , in Ogden. Williams, Pace Mannion and Angeio Robinson each tossed in 18 points to guide the Utes past the Bruins. Winans grabbed a game-hig- h nine rebounds for the Utah team. The Runnin' Utes' tournament dreams came to an end though, in Ogden as North Carolina State dropped the Utes 6. Utah finished its season with an overall record 75-5- of 18-1- 4.
