Show MORE TIME ASKED BY JEWISH COLONY State Representatives Insist That the Interest,, at Least, Be Paid. Following a two hours' conference between be-tween members of the state board of land commissioners. Governor Spry. Attorney General Barnes and representatives of the .TewlF-h colony located in Sanpete and Pevler counties yesterday, the representatives represen-tatives of the colony were granted additional addi-tional time in which to secure funds with which to meet the obligations of the colony in its payment to the state for land and water rights. The state told the representatives of the colony that there was owing between $:0,000 and ?2o,000 in principal and interest in-terest and that the ftate felt that inasmuch inas-much as no interest had been paid on the debt for at least two years the state must take some action. Harry S. Jospeh and Daniel Alexander asked for more time. They declared that if they could secure another year for the Jewish colony the people would he able to pay the interest and a part of the principal. Governor Spry said that there was about 3u00 acres in the tract that had not yet been taken up aid that the state would be willing to take the land back. He felt, however, that if It was possible possi-ble the colonists should pay wha t was due to the state at this time. The governor gov-ernor pointed out that a year ago the state granted an extension of a year for the payment of interest and that the interest had not yet been paid. Mr. Alexander declared that if the Jewish coiony in Utah failed it would be at least fifty years before another attempt at-tempt would be made to esta blish such a colony in the United States.
