Monday, April 21, Primary elections were held following the campaign assembly. For the past three years, Doug has been active in football, and has won track and field honors. The church has recognized his achievement by choosing him the Outstanding Boy in his ward. In his student address, Doug summarized his ideas about a presidents responsibilities when he said, I'll work my heart out for you and for the betterment of this school. In her first year at B.Y. High, Carol Ann has demonstarted her leadership qualities. She has been an active member of F.H.A., was chosen to attend Girls State and is a page editor for the Yld Cat. She is a member of the Chorus and an outstanding pianist. She is known for her pleasing smile and her sense of humor. If elected, Carol Ann plans to work for traveling assemblies, more lyceum or cultural assemblies, better student participation and an increase in student respect for performers. Mike is a sportsminded sophomore whose talents can be seen at the baseball and basketball games. He was one of the two on the State B sophomores Championship team this year. He received leadership experience as of B.Y. Jr. High and also as a homeroom representative on the Student Council last year. Mike expresses his appreciation to those who have supported him so far and promises to do his best if he is elected to office. A member of the Honor Society, Darrel has shown his abilities in all his subjects. In the past he has been a representative to the youth conference and has observed several student governments during this period. Along with his experience as class president his leadership qualifications include three years on the Student Council at Lincoln Jr. High School in Orem. Greg is an honor roll student who is also a sports enthusiast. In accordance with the new constitutional amendment which widens the Historians duties to include publicity, Greg expresses a desire to see the radio used as a means of putting B.Y. High before the public. He would also like to widen the scope of mate- rial compiled by the Historian. Gregs final campaign pledge is free smicklesickles for all! The Studentbody Head Cheerleader shall: Work with the 1st in planning pep Vice-Preside- nt assemblies, and lead all cheering and singing at games and pep rallies, with other elected cheerleaders. In the running for Head Cheerleader is Mary Ann Free. Mary Ann has attended B.Y. High since seventh grade with the exception of ninth grade. This year she has been a member of the Concert Chorus and of Thespians. A strong supporter of school functions, Mary Ann would like to see more students come out to all of the activities such as dances, concerts and other sports, not just basketball and football. One of her desires is to see the students of B.Y. High become organized into a unified group. She to expresses her willingness serve the school as Head Cheerleader and would like to be given the opportunity to serve. Head Cheerleader candidate for the Gray Party is Susan Jacobsen. In eighth grade she was Girls Social Chairman and last year was President of the 9th grade class. During this past year she has been a member of the school twirling group and majorette of the Marching Band. Susans main qualification for the office of Head Cheerleader is her experience as Head J.V. Cheerleader. When asked what she would do if elected she said, If elected I will work to boost school spirit. I will try hard to get more participation at the games and other school activities. |
