Mr. Hawkins is a native of Provo, and throughout his life has been active in Scouting. He reached the rank of Star in Scouting and Gold in the old Explorer program. He spent ten days at Philmont Scout Ranch in Clmmaron, New Mexico in 1957, and during the past summer has worked as a Commissioner and Rifle Range In structor at Camp East Fork for the Great Salt Lake Counoil. He also has served as an assistant scoutmaster. After graduation from Provo High School in 1961, he Joined the Army Reserve and spent six months on active duty at Fort Ord. He returned to Provo and attended Brigham Young, University for one year before being called to serve a mission in Florida. After his mission he completed graduation requirements at BYU in elementary education and taught fifth grade one year before entering professional scout work. After attending an executive training school in Medham, New Jersey he will make his home in Nephi.
