Show Preston Cubs Announce Card For Boxing Show Here Dec. 23 Preston Cans completed their Leneiil linxhig Card this week and announced six bouts which bring together some of the best materia in southern Idaho and northern Utah. Heading the program will be a lightheavy weight bout between Alma Morrison, 174 lbs. of Frank lin and Joel Peterson, 170 of the Preston Fifth ward. Morrison has appeared on the last two cards staged in Preston and each time has came victor by a- knockout. Peterson has been out of action for the past three years but when he performed on the local high school squad three years ago he was one of the hardest punchers in the district and will undoubtedly give Morrison plenty of competition competi-tion before the night is over. ' Sharing the spotlight will be a bout between Mac Smith, 150 lbs. of Malad, and Woodrow Erickson, 150 of Downey. Smith is the in-termountain in-termountain 147 pound titleholder while Erickson is one of the most respected leather tossers in the area. Both, are hard punchers and good boxers and so a real bout is in the making. Another bout which is providing much speculation is the bout between be-tween Cleon Williams, 130 lbs. of Malad and George Hagiwara, 135 from the USAC. , Williams is well known in these parts and is in-termountain in-termountain 126 pound champ. Hagiwara is a battling Hawaiian attending school at Logan. He is i reputed to be capable of tassing plenty of leather. The bout between Les Mockli, 140 of Preston and Lyle Buxton, 143 of Lewiston, should be another thriller. Mockli is the more experienced ex-perienced of the two but Buxton has been quite successful in his other engagements in Preston. Warren Ericksen, 145 of Downey and Leo Mockli, 142 of the Preston Pres-ton Fifth ward, should also put on a classy exhibition. Both boys know the ropes and are willing mixers. The final bout between Guy Thomas, 10 lbs of Malad, and Clarence Clar-ence Merrill, 135 of Preston should be one of the most interesting of the evening. Thomas is former Utah and Idaho 118 pound champion cham-pion while Merrill is a veteran Preston high school puncher. The bouts will be staged in the Preston Opera House Monday, December De-cember 23.
