The reports of the city officers for the month of July were read and accepted ac-cepted and the accompaning bills allowed- reports from State Sanitary Engineer Show City Water of Good Quality. American Fork citizens and prepay prep-ay owners will pay a city tax of 15 lills for the year 1929, which levy "as adopted Saturday, July 27, at the regular session of the city council. It is to be divided as follows: Contingent 5 mills ffaterworkB & Waterworks , r. Tmd 4 mills Sinking Fund ctreet and Alley 2 mills. Electric Lights 2 mills public Library 1 mill I Total 15 millsi Reports from L. H. Male, State Sanitary Engineer, show the city culinary culi-nary water to be of good quality according ac-cording to samples taken from the distributing system. A communication was received from Mayor W. F. Olson of Price notifying noti-fying the mayor and council that the Municipal .League Convention would be held at Price, September 12 and 13, and asking that as many as possible could, to attend. A notification was also received from the Utah Peace Officers' Association Associa-tion stating that their 7th annual convention would be held at Logan September 6 arid 7 and requesting a good attendance from this city. Chief I- L- Pratt and Raymond Jacklin -of the fire department were present and stated that since the resignation res-ignation of Charles Kelly, the position posi-tion of assistant chief was vacant. Chief Pratt stated that it was the! recommendation of the department that Raymond Jacklin be appointed assistant fire chief. Chief Pratt also notified the council that the State Firemen's convention would be held at Tooele in August and asked that an appropriation be made to help defray de-fray the expenses of the members to the same. The request was granted. Considerable complaint was received receiv-ed regarding the parking of cars by the American Fork Motor Co. on Main and 1st West streets. The marshal was instructed to notify Manager Halstruni to remove the cars parked and to discontinue this practice, or action would be taken against him- Judge Adolph Nielsen appeared before be-fore the council relative to his work as Justice of the Peace. He stated that numerous cases were being handled and felt that he was not being be-ing paid suffcient for this work. He also stated that he had heard some complaint regarding his decisions, hut felt that he was doing that which he . deemed just an'd proper for all con-) con-) terned. The recorder reported having consulted con-sulted the attorney regarding the , complaint against the Ashby Fox1 I Farm. The attorney advise'd consult-) consult-) Ing the State Board of Health before taking definite action. The recorder was therefore instructed to write the State Board of Health regarding this matter.
