At a meeting of the directors of the Consolidated Consoli-dated Mercur company held on Monday last the usual $30,000 dividend or three cents a share was declared and is payable on May 9th. Stock transfer books will close today and reopen on May 11th. At the same meeting the resignation of John Heimrich, as a director was accepted and W. S. McCornick was chosen to fill the vacancy. After the meeting a conference was held with George Moore, the inventor of the slime and tailing tail-ing treatment method, which the management is figuring on introducing into . its large mill, but nothing definite on this subject was given out for publication. The first two cars of ore from the new strike in the Star Consolidated were settled for during the week. Thoy did not run very high in value but this was expected by Manager Packard, for when the strike was made the ore was considerably consid-erably mixed and little attention was paid to sorting sort-ing it, in their endeavor to push ahead develop ment on the strike. Several more cars from this strike are in transit and this Mr. Packard expects ex-pects to run much higher. The strike is still holding out nicely and from the mine assays good returns may be looked for when stopeing begins, w t &v What seems to be a most Important strike has just been made in the Wheeler and Wilson mine near the head of Big Cottonwood canyon. The ledge was tapped at a depth of nearly 1,000 feet below the outcrop and Manager W. C. Tracy, who came, down to order supplies says that very little drifting has been done on it and that operations were suspended for a few days until supplies can be taken up to the mine. The samples brought down by Mr. Tracy are of a very fine quality of carbonate and galena ore and from all appearances appear-ances is identical with the ore of the Silver King. Mr. Tracy says that from all indications the tunnel, tun-nel, which is now in a distance of 130 feet, Is rapidly nearing a monster chute or tnis ore and has no doubt that within the next few months they will have a regular shipper of no small ton-age. ton-age. tv iw fc? A specimen of Century gold waa brought to the city during the week by Manager P. W. Mad-sen. Mad-sen. It was worth about $3,300. Work on this property is being pushed vigorously by a corps of twenty miners and the output Is extremely ex-tremely gratifying to the parties interested. At the point where the present workings are in operation oper-ation large quantities of first class ore are beung developed. Much interest has developed by reason of a recent strike in the Blue Jay property, near the Indian Creek territory. The vein from all indications indica-tions will prove to be a very rich one. Altogether Altogeth-er the outlook for this property is extremely promising. , fer 0& 0 Prospectors interested in the Deep Creek mines are greatly interested in the prospective railway service which promises to be in operation opera-tion there in the near future. M. It. Evans, who recently returned from that district, states that ore of a very good quality has been reached of late and that with the advent of the railroad, the district will be a source of surprise to people who have shown considerable apathy regarding developments de-velopments in that section. |
