Show A life sketch of Zina D. H. Young was read by sister J osephine J. Jliles. Choir, sang "Oh, my Father." A special prayer for tne occasion was offered by James G. Bleak. Synopsis of Relief Society work from its organization was read by Sister Whitehead. Original poem, by C. L. Walker, was read by his daughter Zaidee. A solo was nicely rendered by Miss Jary Morris. Resolution of respect, by the officers and members of the Female Fe-male Relief Societies, and President Presi-dent and workers of the St. George Temple was read by James G. Bleak. Sister Woolley spoke on woman and said she is just as God intended intend-ed she should be. D. H, Cannon said he had always been noted as a woman's rights man and seemed delighted to see them in their right place which was side by side with their husbands. hus-bands. SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS OLD. A meeting was held in the , Tabernacle, Tab-ernacle, January 31, 1896, in honor of sister Zina D. H. Young who is 75 years old on that day. Meeting was called to order and the Choir sang "The spirit of God like a fire is burning." Prayer by David H. Cannon. Singing "While the storm is raging rag-ing I'll 6tand by you." Remarks of greeting by sister Woodbury. Said she was pleased to meet with us to-day, to celebrate the birthday of our sister, Zina D. H. Young. Said there was a great deal of credit due her for the great amount of good she had done. Thought we should also remem- ber in kindness the family of our beloved sister Anna L. Ivins. Said we should teach our children the ways of the Lord for they are our treasures and this is "a duty of the mothers. Sister Miles, 'councilor 'coun-cilor to sister Woodbury, said sister sis-ter Zina Young whose birthday we celebrate to-day, was a worthy woman who has been very faithful and done a great amount of good all her life. Said the mission of the sisters is to assist the brethren in rolling on the great work of God. President McArthnr said he knew sister Zina when she wag a girl, in Kirtland and she has always been true, and it is the delight of her heart, as also of the Eemale Relief Society, to do good, and to assist the poor and the needy. Spoke of the way the Lord dealt with Israel, of old, when they were rebelious and he has scattered them all oyer the world, but he has promised to gather them togather to the land of their forefathers, in the Latter days. Advised the young men to live worthy to go and preach the gospel to all the inhabitants of of the world. |
