Show SPECIAL PROMOTION PLANNED FOR STATE PRODUCTS BOISE, Jan. 16 Idaho potatoes and onions will get a concentrated share of acclaim in Idr.ho and the big marts in lhe east with the beginning be-ginning of a week-lcng special pro. motion of the two products, January Jan-uary 17 to 25, under sponsorship ol the Idaho Advertisins Commission. It will be the second annual Idaho Ida-ho Potato and Onion Week, and if it is anything like the first one a year ago, sales will boom and the fame of the delectable Russet and sweetest of onions will grow. Here in Idaho, the citizens will get an idea of how the two products pro-ducts are merchandised in the) east from exhibits of displays in grocery stores, chambers of commerce and hotel lobbies. Commission Secretary Les Sargent Sar-gent said the response to the commission's com-mission's request for cooperation from chamber, of commerce, grocer stores and new-spapers in making the week a success in Idaho has been more than gratifying. Meanwhile, the success of the advertising program was indicated by the action last week of the Bonneville and Bannock County Potato Growers' Associations in unanimously favoring re-instate- ment of the original one-cent-per-hundredweight advertising fund on potatoes. The present advertising fund based on one-half cent was provided pro-vided by the 1939 legislature after the commission had operated with one cent revenue for two years. It has also been made knomi that at the) annual banquet of the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Convention to be held at St. Louis Mo., tonight. Idaho potatoes and Idaho Challenge butter will be featured on the menu. .. n |
