state group offers prizes for design for centennial seal so there will be ba uniformity throughout the ilie state in the color designs and an official seal 01 trade ade mark for the utah cen tenial in 1947 utah covered cohered wagon days inc of salt lake city which has promoted july 24 celebrations in salt lake city from 1935 to 1942 will sponsor a contest statewide for a seal insignia or 01 design to be used ausec generally tor for the 1917 1047 celebration sponsored by the state legislature the celebration celebi atlon Is under the direction of 0 the utah centen centenial lal commission named by governor herbert B maw and ancl serving without compensation the contest Is open to every resident lesl dent ot or the state the contestant should submit a sketch either drawn or described la in writing wilting and a suggestion tio n of a color design all s suggestions or sketches should be submitted to the contest director centennial commission box ox salt lake city 8 utah the seal design should be something similar to a state seal and the color scheme one adapts adapt able to printing development ot of decorations etc four points aro are urged for foi its development 1 simplicity 2 appropriateness 3 dignity 4 statewide state wide in scope having no local implications awards of in govern government ent bonds maturity value will be given the successful contests a bond will be awarded tho the winning contestant bond tor for second place and a 50 bond tor for third thaid place bonds are donated by covered wagon days and the entries will be judged by a committee appointed by that organization and prizes awarded upon the decision of the judges all three winners however according to gus P backman director of the centenial Centen lal will be submitted to the commission on the one to use the commission reserves the right to use any or none of the winners
