Show morgan citizens approve bond issue for local school at a special election thursday july 7 taxpayers of morgan school district approved a bond issue for the construction of an addition to the elementary school building the election carried by a majority of approximately five to one the count in ift each of the representative school districts was as follows peterson yes 23 no 1 milton yes yea 29 no 27 can yon aes 51 no MO 7 morgan yes no 21 24 croydon devils slide yes 40 no 3 total yes no 62 bonds which were authorized at the july 7 election will be purchased by the continental national bank and trust company of salt lake city and will bear interest at the rate of 1 percent per annum one tenth of the bonds will be redeemed annually final payment being made in the new wing will provide housing for a play room lunch room kitchen music room practice rooms art department as well as ad dional rest room and storage facilities the present play room will be remodeled to provide additional dit ional elementary class rooms construction will start as soon as plans and specifications can be developed ve loped bids advertised and accepted and a contract let architect karl L krusmark of brigham city is completing plans and specifications ficat ions now preparatory to the advertising for bids debt service levy for the first year will be approximately 34 mills and will decrease annually to less than 3 nulls mills for the tenth year the board of education wishes to express its appreciation to the citizens of morgan county for the vote of confidence in its proposed construction program as reflected in the returns of the recent special bond election it is one more indication oj of the progressive forward looking attitude that has characterized the people of this county from the date of its founding members of the board asserted |
