Hinckley - - - ELAINE HARDY Two groups of Cub Scouts led by Mrs. Carol Bishop mul Mrs. Carolyn Caro-lyn Stevens, recently went on a lour of the fire stnlion in Delta. They were taken on a ride on the fire engine, which provided a thrill for the boys. The Relief Society Opening Social was a very fun and interesting mor ning for the fifty-two ladies of the ward who attended. The gay theme CARNIVAL OK JOY was carried out. Bright decorations of the carnival idea with balloons carnival booths, etc, made it realistic and Jots of fun. One feature of the program was when the ladies drew slips of paper from nn old butter churn offering of-fering prizes such as "free lessons at Relief Sciely", free lunch at Relief Re-lief Society on work day," "free baby-sitting for children for two hours each week (luring Relief Soc iety." This provided many laughs. Refreshments, carnival flavor, were served, hot dogs, hamburgers, inc cream cones, .punch and popcorn balls. A program and resume of coming year's lessons were given by class leaders. Stake Pres. Ethel Stanworth attended. i Mrs. Ciara Stewart entertained the Literary Club at her home this week. Mrs. Mary Ellen Evans and little girl, Amy, visited with her parents the Hon Croppers and other relatives rela-tives over the weekend. A personal bridal shower was held at Thora Petersen's home Snt( urday evening for Miss Jane Talbot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Talj hot, who is to be married in the near future. Thora and M rie Tal- hot were hostesses. About twenty , friends of the bride-to-be came 'o, wish her happiness and presented I her with a lot of nice personal gifts. Fred and Margie Works left last Friday to return to Maryland after visiting their families. Marge and Sherlene Judd and Margie Works drove to Provo one day last week. They visited with I.yle and Clifton Whetten and fam ily at Orem. and Elva and David Stevens and family at Pleasant drove. Mrs. Arvilla Workman went to Provo Thursday. She was accompanied accom-panied by her niece, Joyce Jeffery, of Delta. They returned Friday. Mrs. Lawanna Davis and family visited with her parents, the Karl Workmans Sunday. Betty and Eugene Morris went to Salt Lake Wednesday where Eugene Eu-gene attended school meetings. Mr. Devon Dennison, son of the Ted Dennisons, was introduced as a new member of the Cedar City Youth Council at their recent meet ing. His responsibilities include heading the Youth Employment pro gram there. Devon is a recent gra duate of Weber State College and previous to graduation had spent three years working at the State Industrial School. He has been employed em-ployed by the Utah State Employ nient Security Office in Cedar. lie resides in Cedar with his wife Ra-Nae Ra-Nae and one month old son. VI Robinson had her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Chat-terly Chat-terly of Cedar here to visit with her. Visitors at the Don Morris home this weekend were: Cherie's parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bishop of Sandy; San-dy; her sister and husband, Janice and Kelly Eaves and baby; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Works of St. George. Sharilyn Hardy went to Salt Lake Wednesday by train where she visit ed Sharon and family until Sunday Teresa came back with her to stay for awhile. Dawn Finlinson, daughter of the Raymond Finlinsons, visited with her grandmothes, Mrs. Alice Bliss this weekend. Dawn, a BYU student came down with Eldon Ekins. Beth and Carlos Anderson and Ken and Nina Mecham visited In Las Vegas this past week with Ken and Beth's brother and his wife, LaMar and Dolores Mecham, who are celebrating their golden wedding wed-ding anniversary. Lumenla Galli Duane Gain's Gai-n's mother, and Alt-- Doutre, Du-ane's Du-ane's uncle, who moved to Hinckley Hinck-ley from Garrison, are getting settled sett-led in their trailer home which is located on Duane's lot, just south of his house. They have put in some cement walks, which look real nice. Beverly Skecm went to Idaho Wednesday to visit her mother. They all returned to Hinckley for a few days, then Elva went back to resume her teaching there. Hon and Erma Cropper and Mrs. Kathy Cropper made a trip to Provo one day last week. The Scouts under the leadership of Scoutmaster Doug Spencer went to Beaver Thursday morning for a few day's trip. Gayle Nielson and Marsha Han sen spent last Wenesday evening in Logan with their roommate, Linda Lin-da Miller. Millie Lovell Is staying with her daughter, Margaret, Bud and family fam-ily for awhile. Millie Is having trouble trou-ble with her leg again. Hope it gets better soon. Thursday, the Robinsons and Phy liis's aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Loomis of the state of Washington and their son, Harold, who is on furlough from the Navy visited the Garland Johnsons. Jill Johnson writes her folks from school in Cedar that she has two former Delta girls as roommates, Merna Clements and a Miss Buckley. Buck-ley. Their fathers are both highway patrol men In Panguitch, Othello Buckley and Ken Clements. Karl and Eleanor Murray took their granddaughter, Kim Fowles, to Salt Lake to see some shows and see the town Thursday and Fri day. I bet Karl and Eleanor had more fun than Kim. George Is close to his work which makes things much better. We enjoyed a nice evening and a delicious birthday dinner with Ed and Margaret Taylor on Oct. 2nd. Ed is 78, I believe, and the oldest in our town. He and his sister, Maud Westover are the only ones left of the Taylor family now. Faye Tennant and daughter, Jill, of Tooele and Sandra Fullmer and little Tracy Jean of Grantsville spent Thursday with us. It was Jill's 10th birthday on the 5th. "Many more happy birthdays, Jill". Our sincere sympathy to Mrs. Ora Gardner and her family at the tragic tra-gic death of Fenton Gardner last week by a train accident. How very uncertain life is. Miss Emily Young and Patricia Fullmer went with the chorus group to the Valley Music Hall to see "Oklahoma" Oct. 4th. They found Salt Lake rather windy and rainy but enjoyed it anyway, Erma Petersen and Rae Petersen are both home now.
