Show County GOP Begin 1940 Campaign Dick Wells Of Pocatello Main Speaker Franklin county Republicans swung seriously into the general election campaign here last Satur. day evening with rally held at the reception rooms of the county courthouse. A fine turnout was in attendance. Principal speaker of the evening was Dick Wells, well-known Poca-telloan. Poca-telloan. who captivated the audience audi-ence with a well-delivered discourse dis-course on the issues in the approaching ap-proaching political campaign. Wells pointed out what he believed be-lieved to be dangers of "unintentional "uninten-tional dictatorship" if the third-term third-term campaign is successful. He discussed at some length the manner man-ner in which dictatorships had taken over in other democratic nations, and pointed out that the American people might be drifting toward a one-man government without realizing it. The speaker called for iclear-thinking iclear-thinking on the part of voters. "There are three great parties in the United States," he said. The Republican, the Democratic and a great party of 'undecided voters.' It is the third part,y who will decide de-cide this election, and it is necessary neces-sary that these voters go to the polls with a clear picture of the issues involved," Wells stated. In addition to an entertainment program, several of the candidates were introduced, and a motion picture of Wendell Willkie and McNary, Republican presidential and vice-presidential candidates was shown. |
