Show LEGION ENDORSES THEJjEAL SALE Ex-soldiers Will He'p Fight Tuberculosis Tuber-culosis in the State of Utah In line with action by the third national na-tional convention of the American Legion Le-gion at Kansas, City recently, the Department De-partment of Utah, American Legion, has Indorsed the annual Christmas seal sale of the National Tuberculosis association and the Utah Public Health association in Utah. Commander P. W Black of the Department of Utah has sent out letters to every post in the state calling attention to the health work, especially the tuberculosis tubercu-losis work, being done among ex-service men by the Utah Public Health association and urging them to support the Utah health organization In its campaign for funds with whicli to carry car-ry on its work in Utah during the coining year. The letter which has been sent out by Commander Black is as follows: To All Post Commanders Department of Utah: Your attention Is invited to the resolution res-olution given below. It is the desire of tlie department that you and the local post do all that you can to assist the Utah Public Health Association in this great work. The Utah Public Health Association is affiliated with the National Tuberculosis Association and they have been and are now doing a work which is indispeusible. The Utah Public Health Association, in cooperation with the U. S. Public Health Service is now engaged in a tuberculosis survey of the state and among the personnel of the traveling clinic engaged in this work is one specialist who is giving his special attention at-tention to ex-service men. The resolution as passed by our 'fhird Annual Convention is as fol-1 fol-1 ows : RESOLUTION PASSED BY THE AMERICAN LEGION At the Third National Convention, Kansas City, October 31st to November 2nd, 1921 WHEREAS, the prevalence of tuberculosis tuber-culosis among exservlce men has created of problem of most serious proportions, both to the government and to the American Legion ; and WHEREAS, the National Tuberculosis Tubercu-losis Association has been generous in Its continous cooperation with the American Legion and the federal agencies that have been trying to solve this problem and to provide proper care for tuberculosis ex-service men ; and WHEREAS, The state and local tuberculosis tub-erculosis associations have constantly supported the efforts of the American Legion. in securing adequate care for ex-service men and are still continuing with their educational and organization organiza-tion campaigns to reduce the incidence of tuberculosis among ex-service men ; BE IT RESOLVED, That the American Ameri-can Legion pledges its unqualified support to the National Tuberculosis Association and its affiliated state and local associations in the fight, against tuberculosis which they are carrying on, and we urge all local posts of the American Legion to cooperate with local lo-cal and state tuberculosis associations In their several campaigns for the prevention pre-vention of tuberculosis and especiallly in the Fourteenth Annual Christmas Seal Sale. |
