Mrs. Inez Peterson and daughter, Beth, spent Thursday in Provo vis iting with Mr. and Mrs. Jess Webb. Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Young and Mrs. Robert Gilchrist motored to Ogden Sunday, where they met Lieutenant R. T. Gilchrist, who has been stationed with the Utah na tlonal guard at Camp San Luis Obispo, California. Mr. Gilchrist will visit for several days with his family before . leaving for Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, Pennsylvania, to attend military school for several months, Mrs- Elmer Haughton and baby son were removed home from the hospital on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Giles motored mot-ored to Salt Lake City Thursday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Mer-lin Giles. Maurice Taylor returned home Monday from Clearfield, where he has been employed since June. Isaac Woodhouse of LeMoille, Ne vada, visited last week with Mrs, Rachel Anderson and Mr. John Woodhouse. Mrs. Martha Anderson and chil dren of Salt Lake City were Sunday guests at the home of Mrs. Rachel Anderson. Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Taylor, Mrs. Martha Anderson and family, and Mrs, Rachel Anderson motored to Span ish Fork and attended the concert presented by the Lehi stake choir and visited with Mr. and Mrs. E. Kirkham accompanied them to Salt Lake City and spent the day. Mrs. Virginia Freestone of Mesa, Arizona, visited Monday with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wanlass. The new sales quota assigned the Utah-Idaho Sugar company by the department of agriculture will enable en-able the company to sell all its 1940 crop of sugar and part of the 1941 crop of sugar to be refined this fall. Douglas E. Scalley, company vice president and general manager, reported Wednesday on his return from a 10-day inspection trip. "Because of the shortage of ships, it appears very improbable that any acreage quotas will be imposed on domestic sugar beet production in 1942," he said. Mr. Scalley reported beets to be in excellent condition in all areas In which his company operates. He said factories are to begin opera tions in Montana and Washington in September and in Utah, Idaho and South Dakota In October.
