U-is- Zk One of the Patu Rom eotnpacy who played here last Friday and Saturday evenings at the Grand opera, bouse u aa having invested considerable money in Ogden real estate, be believing that this ia the coming metropolis of this eeetion of the territory. The member c( the committee appointed by the Chamber of Commerce to investigate the old iron work prop-t- y and report on the present value of the same neit Wednesday evening, showed interest in the matter and by meeting yesterday going out to the plant for the purpoee of investigation. The interest in the iron works ia growing every day, and a reporter for The Commercial was assured by responsible men yesterduy that there wjw no question as to their being started up again this spring. Ogden not only needs theee works but will undoubtedly have them, and when once started there ia do queetiAi as to their support Already two of the largest foundries in Salt Lake City have expressed themselves aa in hoea that theee works would be started, for they say that the Ogden iron ia superior to anv that they can get in this country. The starting of these works, with the rolling mills and steel mills which will follow them, means quite an addition to our population und a large increase of money dispersed here in pay rolls, as well aa the opening of several now industries which always follow the opening of such plants. Already ono or two manufacturers using iron hava signified their intentions of coming here as soon as theee new works are opened up. Such is the reputation whioh Ogden s iron ore has gained simply from a single run in a blast furnace and from samples sent east for assay. The iron age is fast coming to Ogden, and before a very distant day it is believed that Ogden will be known the world over as ono of the great manufacturing centers of the iron industry in the United States. 0.
