NEPHI, UTAH S, Local Notes Red Cross Nurses Aid In Every Great Disaster major disasters, the Florida hurricane and the Mississippi flood, required the services of Red Cross nurses in large numbers over a long period of time in the past year. In the Florida storm, service of 350 nurses ia recorded. It is estimated that about 100 others assisted In the first few days as volunteers. The total number of nurses in the Mississippi valley flood was approximately 200. In every major disaster the services of Red Cross nurses are needed, 'ending added Importance to the enrolled reserve which now numbers more than 45,000 Red Cross nurses. These nurses are available for any emergency, though they are on duty in hospitals and in private practice. They constitute the reserve of the Army and Navy nurse corps in time of war.
