V - 'r$ - ’S V Eagle-Pa- g will add each year to the budget of Gallery East to provide continued exhibits The woks by Cliff Bergcra Brent Haddock and James Young are an example of work that they are presently selling in the Southwest art market This is a rare opportunity for patrons to add to their collection while supporting the arts and doubling the benefit to the college The opening of the exhibit will be December 4 from 7 to 9 pm The public is invited for an evening of visual delight and great opportunity Refreshments will be served The exhibit will continue through January 29 During the months of December and January Gallery East at the College Of Eastern Utah will be exhibiting the works of the art department faculty Each piece in the show will be for sale with proceeds going to a matching endowment provided by the Utah Arts Council Gallery East has gained entitlement to the endowment because it provides eastern Utah residents aces to outstanding art exhibits v i ! The Art faculty works displayed funds “ 1 I ' 'VI' J-- i- - Art professors Brent Haddock CIIN Bergcra (k) and Jim Young'a work to be displayed In Gallery East ( Photo by Travla Day ) Ac !mi o r tOSULm i CEU Dance Department adds new member Jennifer Dnncan HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAY SEASON! by staff writer College of Eastern Utah's dance department is expanding with the addition of a full time graduate assistant from the University of Utah Pamela Lynn Porter arrived here the week before Thanksgiving and is planning on staying until the end of school in June She is currently a student at the University Of Utah working on her master's of fine art degree She is studying ballet with an emphasis on teaching and choreography Before coming to the U of U Porter attended the University of Wyoming where she received her bachelor's degree in art She has attended two ballet schools: Littleton Ballet Academy in Colorado and Johnstown Concert Ballet in Pennsylvania The program Porter is under includes student teaching at other schools She came to CEU to get more experience with teaching at a two year college ” I've always wantol to teach at a school of this sort" she found out about the position available at CEU from the director of the graduate department at the U of U Bene Arnold who is a mentor of CEU”S dance department head Carolyn Gwythcr Porter's position at CEU includes teaching all of the intermediate ballet classes the modem dance classes and helping with the Ballet Repertory Company produc- - 94icK see 4fck 4nnK- SK4fcfc4tfve- - See4icMie 4orit be cj - A MESSAGE FROM THE EAGLE STAFF Michelle Jeneen le taught a move by Pamela Lynn Porter tions and practices She will even performing in some of the company's productions Her teaching experience docs not stop here She leaches ballet classes in private community schools in Salt Lake City to chil-b- e drcn ranging in ages from 6 to 17 Pamela is excited to teach at CEU and hopes she can have an influence on the students and bring in some new ideas 5 |
