McDermott, young Pocatello Poca-tello attorney, was 'he guest speaker at a dinner meeting of the Preston Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce on Wednesday evening at the Club cafe. McDermoit clscussed the origin of the Monroe Doctrine, tracing its start back before it was verbally pronounced by President Monroe He urged that the United States defend, by force if necessary, any infringment on that historic dorc trine. In the absence of the club president, presi-dent, Ken Beckstead was in charge of the meeting. George Choules, club guest, gave a few remarks and the meeting closed after a short musical program.
