Scoring on the fourth play o the game Preston was never headed and it was apparent they would come out an easy victor. Only two more games remain on Preston's grid slate todate. They meet the Fielding High Spartons from Paris next Saturday at Paris and then wind up the year with a game with the Montpelier Bears at Montpelier on November 11. In the Paris game the Preston team will meet one of the so-called weaker teams in the conference but fans are fearing a possible upset up-set as Preston has taken time off for beet vacation and although practices were scheduled for Tuesday Tues-day and Thursday of this week few players reported as they are engaged! en-gaged! in beet harvest work. Last week Paris battled Mont-pelier Mont-pelier and came out loser 19-7 but only after a hard fought battle. They are reputedly stronger than last year and if this is so Preston will have a tough task on their hands in whipping the boys from across the hill. If, however, Preston can turn back the home towners and Mont pelier 'can go through the remainder remain-der of their schedule undefeated as expected the stage will be set for a grand climax on the Montpelier field for the football final. Montpelier with a veteran team has taken the measure of Paris and Blackfoot so far in league games With a new coach and a new system sys-tem they have shown new enthusiasm enthu-siasm in football this year. They have turned back several Wyoming Wyo-ming schools in practice tilts and this week play the' strong Pacatel. lo team which is one of the favorites favor-ites for the strong Big Six football foot-ball title. Last week Preston used their superior size to good advantage in routing the American Falls gridders. grid-ders. They swept the Beavers off their feet on power plays and on passes Duane Hobbs, towTering Preston end, reached high above the American Falls defensive plat " ers to bring down the oval lor sizeable gains. American Falls' highly-publicized offense failed to click until the fi nal quarter when they scored on a pass. John Evans, American Falls all-around athlete, was the mainstay main-stay of his team.. He was superior on offense and demonstrated hi was one of the best passers in this district with some long and well directed heaves. Captain Marcel Chatterton ra y again acclaimed as the outstanding .' man on the field on both offense and defense. He made near half 0! the tackles and rolled up sizeable gains nearly every time he packed the ball. The whole team "played y well however, and they all deserve credit. |
