Show Junior high names 'Good Citizens' Dennis Giles A tall, well-groomed ninth grader, Dennis Giles, was chosen cho-sen as a "Citizen of the Week" at Springville Junior High School. The oldest of four children, he is the son of Max B. and Shirley Giles of Springville. Spring-ville. A current hobby of Dennis' is playing the guitar and singing. sing-ing. He also is interested in - - mm ;:) 4 I ea Vim A Dennis (iiles Lu Ann Bird model car racing and has a collection of model airplanes. In the field of sports, he favors fa-vors basketball and has played two years with Snow Dairy. Swimming is also tops on his list of sports, and at one time he played Little League baseball base-ball for A & W. Deer hunting with his dad is an annual event he also enjoys. A good student, Dennis maintains main-tains a high scholastic average. Although he likes all classes, math and P. E. are favorites. Active in church work and Scouting, he is an Explorer who is working for his Eagle Award. He is currently serving serv-ing as a Den Chief is assistant leader for a Cub Scout group. He has won three individual Awards. Lu Ann Bird LuAnn Bird, a pretty blue-eyed blue-eyed blonde who is the eighth grade representative on the student council of Springville Junior High School, was chosen as a "Citizen of the Week." Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. Freeman Bird, Lu Ann is the youngest of six children. Her older brothers and sisters are all married and she has thirteen thir-teen nieces and nephews. Lu Ann enjoys sewing and cooking. Music and art work including crafts are also favorites fav-orites with her. A dedicated student who maintains about an A average, she enjoys all classes but especially es-pecially art and English. Last summer Lu Ann played on the MIA baseball team of the Springville Twelfth Ward. Volleyball, basketball, and bowling bow-ling are other sports high on her list. Active in church, she is presently pres-ently serving as a counselor on the Bishop's Youth Council in her ward, and has won an Individual In-dividual Award. |
