Mikes' chopped hay to feed calves was among the first settlers in Beaver. His father, Duane, moved to the Milford in 1949 to raise alfalfa hay for the dairy operation he owned in partnership with his brothers. In 1978, when Duane sold his interest in the dairy, Mike and Sherri moved to Milford and purchased the farm. "We appreciate living in Milford, and working among friends," Mike said. Mike farms 400 acres in the Milford Valley, and has 100 acres of pasture land in Beaver. In the 20 years Mike has been farming, he says he has seen it become more of a business than a way of life. More equipment is needed now to be competitive. "It used to be that you could go out in the field and work as a family. Now it's different ... not worse, just different," he said. Ask your child if he has been asked to give ever information about your political beliefs, type of work, religion, income level and whether there are arguments in the home? Have they been asked about their sex life? Have they been asked about their values? .Has your child been given a psychological test without your permission? Have they asked questions like: Are you free of shame, blame, guilt and remorse? Do you often criticize and belittle others? I care what my parents think about the things I do. (YN) I father and my respect mother. (YN) My parents expect too much of me. (YN) This is not education! It does not help someone understand the written word or aid them in doing a math problem. Outcome Based Education needs to be gotten out of our schools and true Education needs to be put back into the school system. Carl A Boyter MiffonL Carl A. Boyter, 69, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away September 20, 1997 at the Milford Hospital. He was born in Beaver, Utah September 29, 1927 to Alexander and Emaline Stapky Boyter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Emma Jane Gale on April 17, 1987. This loving couple was later sealed in the St. George IDS Temple. Carl was blessed with the loving companionship of Sharon Cook on March 26. 1988. His life was full of happiness and service. He fought for his country in both WWII and the Korean Conflict He provided for his family by working on the Union Pacific Railroad for twenty years. Carl found pleasure in the simple things in life. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, trapping, and gardening. His family was the center of his universe. Carl was survived by his Wife Sharon and children, Don & Gail Young, Gay Symond, Lee Boyter, Chuck & Tammy Kindvall and Step Children, Gary Chidester, 22 Grand Children and 4 Great Grandchildren. Three brothers, Elden, Jan & Scott Boyter. Carl was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 23, 1997 in the Milford LDS 1 st Ward Chapel. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver under the direction of Olpin Mortuary Beulah S. Heisel. Beaver: Beulah Shamo Heisel, 68 passed away September 17, 1997 in Ridgecrest, California. She was born September 16, 1 929 in Hurricane, Utah to Harry Franklin & Elizabeth Eager Shamo. She married Leonard Beaumont on December 6, 19S7 in Parowan, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the St George LDS Temple on May 22, 1965. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1983 and she married Phil Heisel on October 15, 1991 in Mesquite, Nevada. She was an active member of die LDS Church all of her life: She was a very loving and caring wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She is survived by ber husband Phil of Beaver, five children, William & Nanette Neider of Ridgecrest, CA., Wanda & John Albrecht of Gresham, Oregon, Georgina & Ken Whetstone of Sacramento, CA--, Paul & Sheffla Beaumont of Hubard, Oregon and Boyd Beaumont of Sacramento, CA. 12 Grandchildren, Brothers, Roger Shamo of Lodi, CA. Ned & Lnana Shamo of Boulder City, NV., George Shamo of Hurricane. Sisters, Mary & Dave Anderson of Mesquite NV. And Nellie & Heward Teterson of Cedar City. She was preceded in death by brothers , Alderton, Merlin, John and James Shamo and Sister, Vivian and Peggy Shamo and Fay Shamo Jones. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 22, 1997 in Beaver 6th LDS Ward Chapel Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Mortuary. Ralph Preston Priest Beaver: Ralph Preston Priest, 68, passed away September 20, 1997 in the Beaver Valley Hospital. He was born on February 26, 1997 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Elaine Lemon on December 2, 1972 in Tooele, Utah and she preceded him in death on October 17, 1989. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed the outdoors especially going camping and to the mountains. He liked to work with his hands and made jewelry and craft items out of popsicle sticks. His greatest love was for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by children, Nina & Gene Davis of Beaver, Bill & Rose Ennis of Orem and Georgia Thompson of Las Vegas. 9 Grand & 2 Great Grandchildren. And a special friend, Thclma Worsencroft Funeral Services were held Wednesday, September 24, 1997 at the graveside in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, Utah under the direction of Olpin Mortuary. Robert R. Gent, a Spanish English Teacher at Beaver High School, was recently chosen by The National Congress of State Games, an affiliate of the USQC. United States Olympic Committee, as its 1997 male Citgo State Games I National Athlete of the Year. He will be honored on Saturday, September 27, 1997 at the Citgo State Games Athlete of they Year Banquet in Portland, Oregon. The Sincerely, Lora Mengucci kevnote speaker will be Olympian John Nabcr. In late August the local educator was named Utah Summer Games Citgo Petroleum Athlete of the Year for 1997. David H.
