" ' k$MfrA y'' ' '' X ' -' "l BETSY LYNETTE BROWN "HOMEMAKER OF TOMORROW" Betsy Lynette Brown is Alta-mont Alta-mont High School's 1966 Betty Crocker "Homemaker of Tomorrow. To-morrow. 11 A daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Siler, Lomita, Calif. , this is her first year as a student at the Altamont High School. She resides at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Sorensen, Tal mage. A member of the Altamont Chapter, Future Homemakers of America, she scored highest in a written knowledge a.nd attitude examination taken br senior girls, and is now eligible for state and national scholarship awards. Lynette has already earned a special award pin from the program fs sponsor, General Mills. The pin was presented to her at a special assembly program pro-gram by Principal Mark C. Sim mons of the Altamont High School. Her faculty advisor is Mrs. Mary Lois R. Hayes, Duchesne. Test papers of all school winners in the state are being judged, and a State Homemaked of Tomorrow and runner-up will be selected soon. The State Homemaker of Tomorrow will receive a $1, 500 college scholarship, and her school will be awarded a complete com-plete set of the Encyclopedia Britannica by Encyclopedia Bri-tannica Bri-tannica Inc. ,The second-ranking girl in the state will receive a $500 educational grant. National awards are available, avail-able, also, to the winner of the national contest to be held this spring. The Betty Crocker Search for the American Homemaker of Tomorrow was instituted by General Mills in 1954-55 to emphasize the importance of homemaking as a career. Preparation of the test and selection of Homemaker of To-. To-. morrow is in the hands of Science Research Associates, Chicago educational testing and publishing publish-ing company. |
