This is the time that the Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain Division announces its-representatives its-representatives for the Junior Olympics. According to Ski Team Coach Bob Marsh, several members of the squad hav e a good chance to qualify. However, he chose not to speculate pending the outcome out-come of this weekend's races. One of the more likely candidates, 14-year-old Jason Ja-son Lawson, will be watching watch-ing from the sidelines. Law-son Law-son is still recovering from a knee injury suffered earlier in the season, but hopes to be back in shape before the Junior Olympics are held in mid-March. "His hurt leg needs to be 80 percent of the strength of his good leg before he can ski," Marsh said. If Lawson qualifies, he will be one of 20 JII (14- and 15-year-old) skiers from the In-mountain In-mountain Division to travel to Aspen for the Junior Olympics. Competition for the JI (16- and 17-year-olds) will be held in Vermont while the JIII skiers (12- and 13-year-olds) will go to Jackson Hole. In action last weekend, some of the younger members mem-bers of the Park City Ski Team continued to dominate their Intermountain competition com-petition with a series of impressive im-pressive wins in a JIV-JV slalom at Nordic Valley. Stephanie Palmer, Jeremy Nobis and Jason Parkin each recorded two first-place finishes while Shannon Nobis RESERVATIONS ARE NOW BEING TAKEN FOR ADVERTISING SPACE IN THE SUMMER PARK CITY lilill fi flavin n MI The Park City Lodestar magazine provides visitors with information and interesting stories that guarantee their stay in Park City will be enjoyable. Saturday's competition provided an extra hardship for the young racers as the chairlift broke down, forcirig them to hike to the top of the course. It was 11:30 a.m. before the race could start, and the warm sun made the course sloppy. Marsh, who was present for Sunday's runs, said that Jacob Doilney skied exceptionally excep-tionally well to finish fifth in the JIV boys. "He skied superbly on the bottom half of the course," Marsh said. He pointed out that Jason Parkin also distinguished himself, posting the four fastest runs in two days of racing for the JV boys. "He skied better than he's ever skied. No question." Meanwhile, at Kelly Canyon, near Idaho Falls, Park City's Tori Pillinger and Sun Valley's Nancy Williams continued their rivalry in the JII age group. (Two weeks ago, Pillinger had the edge. But last weekend, the first-place trophies went to Williams both Saturday and Sunday. Pillinger fell during her first run Saturday, but won the second run to finish sixth overall. On Sunday she finished second, 16 one-hundredths one-hundredths of a second behind Williams. Perhaps the most encouraging en-couraging performance, for local observers, came from 14-year-old Nicki Koch. "She had a pretty good weekend, with a second and a third," said Park City Coach Jim Clifford. "She skied better as the weekend went on." The top local finisher among the boys was Greg Tesoro with a second place Saturday in the JIII class. For more results, please turn to the Scoreboard section. sec-tion.
