Mr. Weight was told that, it being a special occasion the charges would be $18.00. Weight would not agree to pay $18.00 positivily, and thus the matter was left. City Council Prceedings. At the Council delibejations Mon-cay Mon-cay evening the following topics were discussed and reports made. W.K.Johnson said Com. on law had visited Atty Thurman whose opinion was, that the City could not tax outside out-side propery to build reservoirs, but could go ahead and complete the contract con-tract with Mapleton on that reservoir and complete its part. The Attorney also a dvised calling a mass meeting where the water question could be fully and fairly discussed, with the view of getting a proper understanding understand-ing on the vital question. He considered con-sidered the piesent ordinances ample to enforce proper cleanliness in the City; that if the citizens would not move their corrals off the street, and keep their premises clean the City couidJcause it to be done at the ex pense of the owner. jQhn Lee and Bp Tew of Mapleton asked the City to relinquish its claim to Maple Canyon water and then the Mapletonians would flume the stream over the loose rocKs thereby saving at least one large irrigating stream. M.E.Crandall was in favor of grant ing their request at once in order that the people might get at work, Pack ard was in favor of going slow and Child moved its refference to commit tee. Child introduced the matter of cut- ting a canal from the O.S.L. railway in the City pasture to a point near the Club House thereby draining a large tract of land, that the survey was already made, the cost would not exceed $200 and the county would pay half. Refered to committee. Packard reported that he had in vestigated the electric light proposition proposi-tion and it would cost $16,000 to put the plant into the City with the Tell- uride power. The Mayor was of the opinion that the City could put in the plant for$27 000 and that it would pay from the start. Ex-Mayor Johnson thought power could be btained from the American Fork plant. Childs said; last year it would have cost $37,000 to put the lights into our City and Spanish Span-ish Fork also. M.E.Crahdall thought that water should be first and that there should be no money spent for light at this time.
