The above is taken from o letter written to A. O. Hmoot, by a breder in New Mexico to whom Mr. Smoot sold the animal refered to about five years ago. Monday a very fine hull cnlf, the second one sold to this New Mexico breder, was shipped from Smoot Brothers Jersey farm, at Farming-ton, Farming-ton, Utah. The second calf is a brother of the ex-state champion yearling heifer of Utah, and besides being so closely related to cows of local fame, he traces on both sides to the renowned Sophie 19th of Mood farm, the cow that is regarded by judges and breders of dairy cattle, cat-tle, as the most remarkable dairy cow in history. .Recently the Herald run an account ac-count of this great cow having been secured by the U. S. government, at the age of twenty years and put in the Smithsonian Institute at Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, for educational purposes. pur-poses. Her hyde is stuffed, her bones treated and preserved for future fu-ture generations to study! Having led all cows of oil breeds as a dairy cow, a producer of butter fat and having been before the public , for nearly a quarter of a century, she was selected by the government officials in agriculture to be preserved pre-served in the way referred to above, for students of dairy cattle to study, an honor never before bestowed upon up-on any of her sisters in the dairy world.
