earlier hours i of the day Inclining to reaction but a I I stronger tone developed this afternoon I i Which carried prices all through the I Ilst above last nights closing level There was no news regarding the general I gen-eral situation to account for the early decline and i must be attributed to a I I general apprehension among the professional pro-fessional traders that the 1101 prices has outstripped conditions The late strength did not develop until after a period of feverish uncertainty and a j hesitating and somewhat timorous effort I ef-fort on the pall of the bears to take I 1 control of the market There was a decided i falling off in activity i and In j the outside interest In the market all Ida I-da Nor was there any general heavy t selling to realize apparent The decline I I gave every appearance of being purely manipulative in character the bulls seeming to assent to it as promising I benefit to the tone of the market I was not of a character to invite aggressive ag-gressive short sales and in fact the sales that were made for short account were covered before the end of the session and were largely responsible for the rally The feature of the market all day was the ease with which prices moved both up and down on small I transactions The late rise was accomplished lse transctons complished without any very heavy I buying reflecting the disposition on the I part of the heavy operators to nurse the reaction for the purrose of recuperating re-cuperating the market and preventing its too rapid advance London already reflected a increased confidence In the stability of values here and bought quite freely during the day General news as to the outlook for business continued favorable The transfer of I 200000 in currency from the sub Ian I treasury to New Orleans is considered an indication of increasing business activity ac-tivity in that section An order from Europe for 500000 in I gold went begging in Wall street there j being no adequate profit in looked upon asa as-a favorable factor The bond market displayed a good tone on moderate transactions which were largely restricted to the leading argey mortgages Fluctuations were quite narrow but with fairly uniform fractional frac-tional gains The market showed some irregularity a times but ended with lines showing advances the princicnl lnes showing The aggregate sales were 1322000 Chicago I July L Except that this was the first delivery for July contracts wheat opened under a similar combination of bearish influences in-fluences to those of the fiuence previous day July which closed yesterday at 69V opened today at from 68 to 694 and 69 an hour afterward I could be bought for 6SU September started a shade lower at 6y sold at 64i and then down to 6H Liverpool opened d lower and reported stocks of wheat 312000 bushels larger than June 1 The latter item of statistical information informa-tion was rather a surprise considering the weekly statements of the great t w t deficiency of imports compared with the estimated requirements The light trading was almost entirely en-tirely confined to September the weakness weak-ness of July being due principally to neglect I improved however late in I the session and at the close was bringing bring-ing 68 September after selling down to 64VJ gradually recovered and closed at 643s bid Corn was irregular opening steady becoming quite weak and decidedly strong later Liquidation in July oats caused a weak feeling to prevail In the market for a while but through sympathy with whea and corn a reaction occurred oc-curred
