Show Myton News by Grace Dalgleish Inclement weather made it impossible for members of the Christian Church of Salt Lake City to be present to conduct con-duct services at the Presbyterian Presbyter-ian Church, Sunday. A layman's lay-man's service was presented by Mr. Me Ivin Schwartz of Ft. Duchesne presenting the life of Abraham Lincoln and its ' close association with Christ ; and his teachings. A large congregation was present to i enjoy the service and also the social hour at the close of the scraice when they welcomed welcom-ed all visitors. Members of the First Presbyterian Pres-byterian Church of . Salt Lake City will conduct services next Sunday, February 20 at the Myton Presbyterian Church. A cordial invitation is extended to alL Mr. and Mrs. Bert Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Winn, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Winn and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Babcock went to Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday to attend the funeral of Floyd Winn' who died Tuesday, Feb. 8. The deceased is a former resident of Myton, a brother of Roy Winn. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ross were hosts at a birthday dinner at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Marvin Shields in Roosevelt Saturday. The event honored the birthday of their mother, Mrs. Marion Ross, who with her husband joined the family group. Mrs. Marion Ross was complimented com-plimented again Sunday, when she and Mr. Ross and her'bro-ther her'bro-ther Wanlcss Shields were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shields, brother and sister-in-law of Mrs. Ross Bishop and Mi's. Clark Abe-gglcn Abe-gglcn went to Las Vegas, Nevada, Nev-ada, Friday, where they attened the annual National Rural Electric Elec-tric Convention. Bishop Abegglen is a director of the Moon Lake Electric Company. Mr. and Mis. Ralph Ivic took their young daughter to Salt Lake City last-week to receive re-ceive medical attention. A large group of members of the Relief Society gathered at the Ward Chapel, Tuesday, to participate in a work day. Art and craft work kept many members mem-bers busy while others were working work-ing on two lovely quilts. A delicious de-licious dinner was served at the noon hour as all enjoyed a social get-together before returning to their work. Mr. and Mrs. Devon Gentry visited his mother, Mrs. Violet Gentry in Vernal, Wednesday, and all enjoyedra family gathering gath-ering at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Martin Oaks, daughter and son-in-law- of the Devon Gentrys. They were accompanied by Mrs, Grace Dalgleish who was a guest at the home of Mrs, Blanche Koehler and enjoyed an afternoon with the Stitch and Char Club. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tanner received word from their son" Norman and family that they had arrived safely at their new home in St. Clair Shores, Mich igan, which is a subarb of De-triot. De-triot. A family get-together was held at the Tanner home before their departure so all members could enjoy a visit with the departing family and participate par-ticipate in a -pleasant weekend. Friends have received word of the death of R. E. Waugh, known to his host of friends as Ernest Waugh, who died in Colorado Springs, Colorado, January 27, 1966. Mr. Waugh, an early pioneer of the Uintah Basin, also owned and operated a general mercantile store in Myton for many years prior to moving to Colorado Springs where he and Mrs. Waugh owned and operated an apartment building. His host of friends extend their condolences to Mrs. Waugh and their two daughters, Beth and Louise. Mr. Waugh was exactly ninety- seven years and six months of age at the time of his death. Birthdate - July 27, 1868. Further information was not available at ' this writing. The Myton Scouts and Cub Scouts Pack 253 held their annual Blue and Gold Banquet, under the direction of Sharon Mortenaen and LaNorc Harris at the Myton Ward Chapel, Friday, Feb. 11, at7:30 p. m. Prelude music was by Deloy Tanner; Flag ceremeny by Douglas Conetah, Rodney Pea-tross, Pea-tross, Neil Hadden, Deloy Tanner Tan-ner and Terry Lamb. Invocation by Clark Roberts. Dennis Fow-, ler was inducted into the Cub Scouts. Deloy Tanner was graduated into the Scouts and presented with graduation certificate, cer-tificate, Lion and Webelos badges, Albert Page, Scout Leader welcomed him into the Scouts. Cub Scout master, Frank Tanner presented Service Stars to the following boys: Steven Mortensen, 3 year; David Long, Bernard Drake, Richard Mieure and Robert Mortensen, 2 year; Gene Reed and Rodney Peatross, 1 year , Xeaders receiving service stars were Marjorie Hardinger and Clark Roberts, 1 year; Sharon Mortensen and Frank Tanner, 3 year. Douglas Page received a 1 year Service Star in the Explorer. Boys receiving registration reg-istration cards were: Douglas Conetah, Terry Lamb, Kirk Hardinger, Neil Wilcken, Gene Reed and Rodney Peatross. The Myton 4-H and Adult Riding Club will hold their first meeting of the year on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Frank Tanner ranch home at 7:30 p. m.. All 4-H and Adult members are urged to be present, and to extend ex-tend an invitation to any others who. are interested. Two films, "Ride Cowboy, Ride" and "Showing; at Halter, Roping, etc, " will be shown. Mr. and Mrs. Loryn Ross and family who have been residing re-siding at Mesa, Arizona during the winter months have returned to their ranch home in the Pleasant Valley area. Their many friends welcome their return. Mr. and Mrs. Eldwin Wall are enjoying a visit in Salt Lake City where they are guests of members of their family. Eddie Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin, was in-ductied in-ductied into the U.S. Army, leaving Tuesday February 8th, Fort Ard, California where he will receive 12 weeks of basic j training and specialize in elec- I tronics. j Mrs. Emma (Grandma) Tanner Tan-ner is reported much improved and is now residing with her daughter and sonpin-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Olsen, at Helper, Utah. She has been made happy, but the numerous cards sent, by her host of friends and wishes to thank all of them for remembering her. Wallace Dennis was confined to the Roosevelt Hospital for several days, but is now con-valiscing con-valiscing at his ranch home for several days under the care of j his wife. I I |
