Show nDohbiia Conies ffiack Old Dobbin, who in recent years has either been relegated to the pasture at the far end of the farm or wound up in a glue factory, is making a comeback in Idaho, at least as far as Conservation Officers of the Idaho Fish and Game Department are concerned. Years ago, before the advent of good roads and fast automobiles, the horse played a very important role in enforcing fish and game laws, and as time changed, the field personnel of the department was equipped with sturdy pickup trucks to keep up with the pace of present pres-ent day travel and expanded territories. v And so the horse was gradually cast aside. Now, like almost everyone else, the Fish and Game Department is not so sure where its next tire or tube is . coming from, let alone a new truck or other automotive equipment. So in order to conserve the present stock of rubber on their equipment, members of the Fish and Game I Commission and Director James O. Beck approved a , plan to purchase saddle horses and equipment for Conservation Con-servation Officers wherever it was possible. |
