Show Cecilia Gilbert Arcadia Girl Gets Vacation Nancy Tanner, dauhter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tanner was etended an expense paid months vacation by an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo McPherson of Chicago, 111. Mr. Tanner took Nancy to Greenriver, Wyo., where she joined' join-ed' her young cousin, Shirley Warby. The two girls were put aboard the streamliner, The City of Los Angeles, destination Chicago. They will visit there for a week, after which the McPhear-sons McPhear-sons will start on a tour of the west accompanied by their young nieces. The tour will take them across the continent to the west coast. After touring California, Oregon and Washington the party wiU arive in Arcadia for a visit with the Tanners. Nancy epects to be gone a month. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Jensen spent Friday night with the Tanners, Tan-ners, They have just returned from a two week trip through the Northwest. President Holgate, Stanley Ross, Marvin Shields and Marion S. Shields attended the four stake genealogical convention held at Roosevelt recently. Stake priesthood - meeting convened con-vened at the stake house in Duchesne Du-chesne Sunday. Those who attended attend-ed were: Bishop Garn Gilbert, Chad Evans, Thomas M. Gilbert, Rulon and Gayle Gilbert and Jack Gilbert. President Holgate and Stanley Ross came up from Roosevelt Roose-velt to be present at the meeting and special program of the High Priess quorum. A large attendance of friends and relatives came out to church Sunday evening to hear the report re-port of our returned missionary, Elder Thomas Larsen. Mrs. Gladys Bell is attending summer school at the BYU. Colleen Col-leen remained at home with her daddy while Barbara is staying! with her grandmotheT in Spanish Fork. LeGrand Gilbert brought his wife and new son home from the Roosevelt hospital Tuesday morning. morn-ing. Those at home to welcome the new arrival were his brother, Franklin, grandmother, Mrs. Austin Aus-tin Beal and sons Clarence and Larry of Riverton. Mrs. Beal and Clarence returned to their home Sunday.' Larry remained for the summer to help with the farm work. Mr. and Mrs. W. Workman and family of Layton visited for a day with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hor rocks and' family. Mrs. Minnie Pace and Beverly Olsen attended a Sweeney family reunion Sunday at Washington Memorial Park in Emigration canyon. can-yon. Leon Ross accompanied his father, Max Ross when he returned return-ed to his work at Thornburg, Colo. Mr and Mrs. Lavon Horrocks returned from their wedding trip Thursday evening. They visited with Grant Horrocks and family in Northern Calif, and with Mr. and Mrs. Gray Lusty, a brother of the bride, and most of the Duchesne Du-chesne County people in Wash. Friday Mr. and Mrs. Horrocks moved to Rangely, Colo, where they will make their home. Mr and Mrs. Chad Evans went to Salt Lake City Friday afternoon. after-noon. While there Betty attended sessions of June MIA Conference. I Gloria and Janet Holgate ac- companied them and visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Holgate. Mrs. Holgate is regaining regain-ing her health and strength very t'.tis'factorily. The new son is doing very well also. Mrs. Hol-gates' Hol-gates' mother is still caring for him. Scout master, Arden Evans, recently re-cently took the scouts swimming at Lake Boren and Saturday they went on an overnight camping trip. i ATTEND DANCE FESTIVAL The ward MJA dance group accompanied ac-companied Mrs. Gladys Capson to Salt Lake City to participate in the MIA dance festival Saturday evening. Marsha Lusty, Eleanor Capson, Harold Groves and Richard Rich-ard Capson were the danceTs. Mrs. Merle Ross and Donna attended at-tended Sunday School, here Sun. They are making their home in Roosevelt. Garn Gilbert has taken over the operation of their farm. Clarence Horrocks attended the funeral of an uncle, William Horrocks Hor-rocks of Layton Thursday. He accompanied ac-companied his brother Ray of Duchesne. Du-chesne. Hugh Evans took his mother, Mrs. Arden Evans to Salt Lake Friday to consult a specialist. She is suffering from a blood clot in the vein of her right leg. Rose Gilbert of Myton was an overnight guests at the Hale Holgate Hol-gate home, after attending the welcome home party of our returned ret-urned missionaries. |
