acclamation by the republican alican fourth district judicial convention meeting in the courthouse in provo monday afternoon george P parker was named tor for the second judgeship at M B pope present presen t d district brict attorney was nominated tor for that place on the republican ticket and received the unanimous vote of 0 tile the convention t on tile the convention was called to order by I 1 E brockbank Brock bauk county chairman ot of the republican party in utah county representatives were present from each one of 0 the four counties comprising the district utah wasatch duchesne and uintah the call ot of them the convention was read by R E miller of myton 1 1 I E brockbank Brock bauk was waa placed la in nomination as temporary chairman by 11 II A gardner ot of spanish fork J D wadley of 0 pleasant grove nominated chase hatch for or tem tempo pa bayr chairman air brockbank was elected temporary chairman ed hatch fit df heber and R W mcmullin ot of payson were nominated as temporary secretary mr hatch received the greatest number of 0 votes and was vas elected the delegates began arriving iri in provo early monday forenoon they gathered in groups on the streets and discussed the political situation in general friends ot of the respective candidates to be nominated at the judicial convention moved in and out of the crowd getting acquainted with the delegates from other localities and putting forth the qualifications of their respective candidates it became known early in the day that ray dillman of rosevelt who formerly had been in the race tor for the judgeship had withdrawn to become a candidate for the district torney ship after a motion had been passed that each county chairman name a member on each ot of the necessary committees mrs lacy farnsworth thompson of provo objected on the ground that utah county with two thirds odthe delegates should been titled to an one delegate on each committee A motton motion to this end placed by john hunter of american fork was defeated the following were applin appointed ted on the credentials committee david tho ampson of duchesne Duch asne albert ras mus mu mussen s sen ezi of uintah karl keeler of uta utah h and W T hamilton of wasatch 3 the committee on order of business were fr fred ed perron of duchesne john K bullock of uintah E H street of utah and anda J parley edwards wards ot of was SVa atch satch following th the e of the two committees tor farr deliberation the convention adjourned tor for 15 minutes the delegates from utah county met in caucas baucas shortly after 1 0 clock to decide what action should be taken by them in the convention it was the unanimous opinion that utah county should demand the two judgeships judge ships and permit any of tha other counties to get the nomi lys a for district attorney the baucas caucas showed that the race tor for theo shenew new judgeship would world bo be between A ii booth and george P parker both of whom had friends adopted also recommended that the nomination of two district judges be tho the first order of 0 business followed by the nomination of the district brict attorney the appointment of a judicial committee and a committee of vacancies chase hatch read a resolution adopted and signed by all ot of the republican lawyers of the fourth judicial district endorsing judge ellas elias hansen incumbent
