Poet and Reciter Stan Tixier of Eden from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ogden Nature Center, 966 West 12th Street, Ogden. Stan has spent much of his life outdoors as a forester, horseman and rancher. To share his adventures, he will recite his poetry by the campfire in our new outdoor amphitheater. Bring a blanket, dress for the weather and enjoy an evening of gentle cowboy wit and wisdom. Instructor Jerry Openshaw, Division of Wildlife Resources. For ages 12 and above. After five years of research and continuing work with salamanders, Jerry will share what he knows about their life history and ecology. Find out what it’s like to study a day in the life of a salamander. Members of the Nature Center, $3.00; Non-members $4.00. Seed Stompers, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. For children ages 4 to 6 years old. Cost is $2.00 per child. Come as groups or individuals with adult. Pre-registration is required. Search for seeds in your socks, plant wildflowers and learn how animals garden through games, craft and story. (Community Emergency Response Team) meets at the Ogden Valley Library at 7:00 p.m. October 20 – 30: Eccles Dinosaur Park will host the “Haunted Dinosaur Park” from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. There will be over 300 jack-o-lanterns to light the way, and volcanoes spewing fire. The park will come to life with goblins, wizards, witches and other Halloween creatures. The park will still be open during regular business hours, Monday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate “normal” people. Those looking for the frights at night should join us for our “Haunted Dinosaur Park.” October 23: FREE Adult Computer Class at the Ogden Valley Library at 7:00 p.m. Introduction to Microsoft Word.
